About 6 months ago I had nose surgery at a famous hospital in Gangnam.. I’m a man, and I had a very unusual nose with a severe hump and absolutely no bridge between the eyes.. So I had surgery with a famous doctor who knows nasal structure well and has lots of surgical experience.. The method was to shave down the hump, do surgery for the deviated septum and osteotomy to correct the crooked nose, and use Gore-Tex only in the glabella area to raise it, with septal cartilage supporting the nose tip. Anyway, it was a fairly complicated surgery, and since my nose used to be strangely ugly, it has improved a lot compared to before. The problem is: Usually, when Gore-Tex is inserted, I understand that even if it is not used all the way to the nose tip, it is put in at least up to the bridge of the nose. But for me, they put it only in the exact glabella area. Can that happen? The problem with that is... the glabella area stands up nicely, which is good, but the part below the glabella, the bridge of the nose if I have to call it that, that area became sunken, so the shape turned lumpy and uneven. So this time they said they would do revision surgery, and the method is to leave the current implant in place and insert carefully cut pieces of Gore-Tex into the deficient areas. If I push the bridge area gently with my hand, it becomes perfectly straight and flat, and it turns into the shape I like.. It seems like only the sunken part needs to be raised by about 1 mm (if left alone, though, the shape is odd, so it does need to be filled in,). According to the doctor, they can cut Gore-Tex very thinly and insert it. From my common sense, shouldn’t they remove the existing implant and then cut and insert one single piece of Gore-Tex that also covers the areas that need to be supplemented? (I’m not talking about Gore-Tex extending all the way to the nose tip.) If they leave the existing Gore-Tex between the eyes in place and only cut and fill in the deficient parts again, it seems like it would require extremely delicate sculpting. That’s how irregularly and slightly it sits.. To be precise, it’s just a little below the glabella, and it’s not just the bridge of the nose that needs lifting, the sides of the bridge also need the deficient areas filled in... Anyway, they say they can just slightly raise only this part with Gore-Tex while leaving the nose tip and everything else as is, and that the surgery will be very easy and simple, but is that really possible?? I’d appreciate advice from someone knowledgeable. Is the doctor just doing this because he doesn’t want the surgery to become a bigger one... or will it really be that simple......... ps. I heard Gore-Tex shrinks in some areas over time, so even if they fill in the area under the existing Gore-Tex, I worry that it might start out straight but later shrink and become uneven again.. Of course, the existing Gore-Tex has already fully settled, so it won’t shrink any further.. and because the newly inserted part is being based on the existing Gore-Tex whose swelling has already gone down... But if they insert it while accounting for the swelling going down, won’t it end up a little too hump-like.. Ah, it’s complicated
