Revision eye surgery consultation and clinic surgery review

Because it was so difficult for me too to get hospital information, go to consultations, and decide on a hospital before my revision eye surgery, I’m leaving a consultation review and surgery review for revision eye surgery.   I originally had monolids, but my eyes were large, so I had no need for double eyelid surgery. As I got older, though, my eyes drooped a lot, and while I was worrying about it, I heard three years ago that some older ladies in my neighborhood had good surgery results. I figured double eyelid surgery was something most places could do reasonably well, so I didn’t even go around for consultations and had it done at a neighborhood clinic. Could there be a bigger fool than me?ㅜㅜ It wasn’t a severely botched eye surgery, but maybe because I had it done after my 40s, the part where the eyelid folded looked thick, and especially my left eye was thicker than the right and looked more like it was rolling upward than forming a double eyelid fold (maybe a mild sausage-eye look?). It kept bothering me. From a little distance it wasn’t very obvious, so other people said it was fine and not bad enough to need revision surgery, but when I looked at my eyes up close or under elevator or subway lighting, they looked like eyes that had recently had surgery, so I got stressed and decided to have surgery. I had severe upper eyelid hollowness, so a year and a half ago I got filler deep inside the orbital area of the upper eyelid, but recently it started hollowing again, so this time I also considered upper eyelid fat grafting and went for consultations. Since my eyes weren’t completely botched, I was very worried that revision surgery might make them look even stranger than before, so this time I searched this community hard and went to about 15 consultations. I’ll briefly post my consultation reviews too. 1. ㅎㄴ (single-doctor clinic): The problem was caused by deep fixation, so they suggested releasing the deep fixation, lowering the left line + upper eyelid fat grafting. Since I have protruding eyes, they said the thick eyelid folding tends to happen easily. I think the diagnosis was right. But looking at the review photos, the eyes themselves were pretty, but not the style I wanted, so I passed (I wanted extremely natural-looking eyes). 2. ㅇㅇㅎ (single-doctor clinic): Lower the line with a two-line technique, and the thick-folding feeling of the eyelids would improve more later with a forehead lift. (In the end, I didn’t need the two-line technique. 3.  ㅇㅇㅌ (ㅇㅎㅂ): Two-line technique + later forehead lift, upper eyelid fat grafting. If all the surgeries are done at once, it takes a long time to confirm the final result, so do it in stages. 4. ㅇㅇㄷ (single doctor): Recommended eye incision + epicanthoplasty, ptosis correction. (If I did epicanthoplasty, I thought there was a chance I’d get Shin Dong-yup-like eyes, and my eyes didn’t really need ptosis correction either.) 5. ㅇㄴㅂ (ㅈㅊㅎ): Your eyes aren’t severe, so revision surgery doesn’t seem like it would have much effect. Better not to do it. 6. Yonsei ㅇㅇㅈ (single-doctor clinic): These aren’t eyes that need revision surgery. Better not to do it. 7. ㅌㅇㅅ (ㅇㅅㄱ): Revision surgery to lower only the left line + forehead lift. (If the right side is left as is and I do a forehead lift, wouldn’t the line become thicker?) 8. Weverse (female doctor who had just started a one-year leave): At this level, revision surgery isn’t necessary; just do upper eyelid fat grafting later. 9. ㄸㅋ (ㄱㅎㅅ): Surgery to lower only the left eye’s line so it looks like the right. For the thick upper eyelid, the two-line technique + forehead lift may not give the desired effect, so they did not recommend it. 10. Naturalism (female doctor): Two-line technique + upper eyelid fat grafting; the fixation does not seem deep? 11. ㅌㅂ (female doctor): Two-line technique on the left eye, line cleanup through the existing incision on the right eye + later fat grafting. 12. ㄱㄴㅅㅇ (single-doctor clinic): Not enough to need revision surgery. 13. ㅇㅇㄴㅋ (single-doctor clinic): The left eye fixation is deep, but not severe, so others may not notice a difference before and after surgery. Release the deep fixation and do upper eyelid fat grafting. 14. ㅁㅅㄹㅇ (single-doctor clinic): The bulky overlapping part of the eyelid is due to protruding eyes and naturally thick skin, so revision surgery through incision would not be effective. The fixation of the left eye is somewhat deep, but because scars would be made at the inner and outer corners, the whole eyelid may not lower evenly; only the central part may lower, and I may dislike that, so I should think it over. Upper eyelid fat grafting was not recommended because I have protruding eyes. 15. ㅇㅁㄹ (ㄷㅇㄹ): Waited 3 hours. For the right side, clean up the distorted line; for the left side, lower the line to match the right (no need for the two-line technique). Do you want ptosis correction? (My eyes are the type where I could do it if I wanted, but didn’t have to if I didn’t want it.) The doctor seemed blunt, but said what I had secretly wanted to hear, and the same-day booking discount was large, so I booked surgery and came home. That was the end of my long and exhausting consultation review lol I had impulsively even booked surgery at ㅇㅁㄹ, but somehow I felt uneasy. Even though I had made a consultation appointment and visited, I waited 3 hours, which made it seem like they were running surgeries on a very tight schedule. No matter how good a surgeon is, if they’re too busy, couldn’t mistakes happen? I also thought that if even one problem occurred, it would be difficult to meet the doctor or receive care, and I felt more anxious about having surgery under sedation at a hospital like that. So I started leaning toward the clinic that said they only do two surgeries a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. During the consultation with the director there, he was scary and spoke negatively about the expected result if I had surgery, so at first I wondered if this wasn’t the place. But I thought he was being that honest about the possible result for my eyes, and maybe because he seemed to have a perfectionist personality, he might have been speaking a bit excessively. While I was worrying like this, a review of that clinic happened to be posted, saying the surgeon seemed to explain possible shortcomings a bit exaggeratedly, but that the person’s own surgery turned out clean and good, so I changed my reservation to this clinic. On the day of surgery, the director looked at me and seemed a little flustered. He asked what I wanted from surgery when my eyes weren’t severe... I explained that if only my right eye were like this I would just live with it, but the left eye felt too heavy, and I would be satisfied if they came out similar. The surgery was done under local anesthesia, and since my first surgery had also been under local anesthesia, this actually made me feel more reassured. During surgery, he had me open my eyes in this direction and that direction while proceeding, and it felt extremely meticulous. Before fully stitching everything up, he had me look in the mirror and asked for my opinion. At this point, if there is anything different from what you think, you can say it, and they can revise it if needed. I said my left eyebrow looked lifted toward the outer side and strange, and he said that was due to the anesthetic and would be fine, then finished up. It was okay the next day. After surgery, I looked in the mirror at the clinic, and I thought there was almost no swelling. Immediately after surgery, my eyes looked more natural than before surgery. I had surgery after being told that because my fixation wasn’t extremely deep, I might not be satisfied with the degree of change, but I was very satisfied from the first day, and my boyfriend also said that immediately after surgery my eyes already looked more natural than before. How can there be this little swelling? During my first surgery, my eyes looked sausage-like until 3 months, and then between 3 and 6 months the swelling went down a lot, but even after over a year there was still a process of remaining swelling going down. Here, even though it was revision surgery, there was almost no swelling from day one. Some swelling did appear on days 2-5, but my eyes weren’t funny-looking like after the first surgery. After removing stitches on day 5 and waiting 2-3 more days, it felt like there was almost no swelling. In the morning they do swell, but after blinking for about 30 minutes, they become natural-looking. Still, I managed my diet for about 2 weeks. What’s important for revision eye surgery is going to lots of consultations!!! If you go to 15 consultations, all the opinions are different. You can’t really say anyone has the definite right answer, and opinions may differ depending on the doctor’s experience and tendencies. I’m very satisfied with my revision surgery at this clinic, but if you want glamorous eyes, it may not suit you, so I think it’s best to go around to several consultations and decide on the place you judge to be right for you. For people who want revision surgery into natural-looking eyes, I definitely recommend getting a consultation here! But if you also want upper eyelid fat grafting, this place doesn’t seem to do fat grafting, so it might be better to find a place that is good at both... This clinic said that because I have protruding eyes, having an eye hollow is actually better, but when I had upper eyelid hollowness, I looked older and it was tiring and hard to open my eyes. After putting filler deep inside the orbit and filling the hollow upper eyelids, they did feel slightly plump, but it was still better than looking older because they were hollow. Most of all, my eye fatigue disappeared, so I was 100% satisfied. I had considered doing fat grafting together, but if done together, it would take too long for the swelling to go down and I didn’t want to have restrictions on my social life, so I only did the revision eye surgery and planned to think about fat grafting or filler as a second stage later. That’s why I was able to decide on this clinic... This got way too long, but I hope it helps people who are considering revision eye surgery, and I hope everyone gets good results...
