Hello. It took me a long time to write this post. I had my first rhinoplasty about 20 years ago, and since then I had been constantly thinking about revision surgery. It took me almost 10 years to make the decision, and because of that I looked into clinics very carefully. From my previous surgery, my nasal tip was low, and when viewed from below, the shape of my nostrils was asymmetrical, so I always felt disappointed whenever I looked in the mirror. I disliked how the center of my face looked indistinct and how my mouth appeared more protrusive, so I eventually decided to have revision surgery. I chose a clinic run by a female director who provides one-on-one care, and overall the clinic had a warm and calm atmosphere. From consultation to postoperative treatment, Director Kim Hye-young personally handled everything, so I was able to trust her and leave it in her hands from beginning to end. Since my septal cartilage had already been used previously, autologous costal cartilage was used, and I also had correction of the nasolabial angle, which had always bothered me in particular. Before surgery, the director recommended lowering the glabella slightly, but I did not want the area between my eyebrows to become too low, so we decided to keep it as it was, and instead designed the surgery in the direction of making the nasal tip longer and naturally refined. The surgical result exceeded my expectations. What surprised me most was that the nostrils that had been asymmetrical when viewed from below became naturally aligned. It was not an intended part of the surgery, but as a result, the overall balance improved much more. Another thing that moved me was that during postoperative follow-up care, she even checked the asymmetry in the movement of my facial muscles used in daily expressions. She said that because one side of my facial expression muscles moved more strongly, it could affect the shape of my nose during recovery, so she placed a very finely adjusted amount of Botox only on that side. I was truly grateful for this kind of meticulous response, and in fact my recovery progressed much more stably. I was also worried about the costal cartilage scar, but in reality it was left very small, about 1.5 cm, so it hardly bothers me. She also explained this part in detail beforehand, so I was able to prepare without fear. I did not want to write a post that blindly recommends anything. But after thinking about it for a long time, setting the direction properly, and undergoing surgery, I experienced the feeling that “the parts of my face I had felt dissatisfied with really can be resolved.” If there are people like me who have had surgery before and have hesitated over revision surgery for a long time, I hope this experience can cautiously serve as a small reference.
