Is there anyone among those who had surgery who has the same or similar symptoms as me?
Right after surgery, the area from my left temple to the temporomandibular joint was especially throbbing.
The right side had no pain at all, to the point that it didn’t even feel like I had surgery there.
Now, three and a half years later, the pain I felt in the left area right after surgery still comes steadily in almost the same way.
It’s not severe pain or pain so bad that I can’t go about daily life, but it feels like a dull soreness as if I’d been hit, and subtle swelling spreads across the entire left side of my face.
When there’s no pain, the swelling goes away too, and when the pain is worse, the swelling comes with it.
Because I felt frustrated, I visited the hospital several times at the 1-year mark, 2-year mark, and a few months ago. Even after taking CT scans, the bone union was good, and they couldn’t find the cause of the pain.
Thinking I should try whatever I could, I wondered if the pin in front of my left ear was wrong, so I had only that part removed in the third year, but the pain is still the same.
I wondered if it was chronic inflammation, and when I was prescribed antibiotics and took them, I thought they were effective, so I took them for 2 weeks and stopped. But it turned out it wasn’t an inflammation issue; the effect was from the painkiller prescribed together with the antibiotic.
So now I’m just getting by, but I’m posting to see if anyone has these symptoms.
The pain starts from the osteotomy line in front of the ear and spreads to the left side of my face, with a dull soreness and throbbing.
My plan going forward is to get an MRA once. If the cause of the pain doesn’t show on CT, I’ll have to place my last hope there..ㅠㅠ
