2024.09 I liked the cheekbone surgery method and the director, so I impulsively booked a consultation first. After the first consultation with the consultant, I had a consultation with the director while looking at my CT scan. The director was even more excited, saying the result would be very good(?) My cheekbones were kind of big, thoughㅜ I was planning to do it anyway, so I just paid the deposit and got a 10% discount. There was a review discount, but I didn’t do it. 2024.11 The long-awaited surgery day arrived.. They said the surgery itself would be over in 1–2 hours, but including preparation and post-op recovery, I think it took about 4 hours. After waking up from anesthesia, my throat hurt so much, and especially!!! I kept gagging and feeling nauseous for two whole days. The cheekbone surgery itself didn’t hurt terribly; it was more like a throbbing ache. *Day 2 All night, my stomach and throat hurt so much that I kept waking up, and the compression band and swelling were driving me crazy. The strange thing was that the cheekbone surgery area didn’t hurt at all; only my throat, head, and stomach hurt ㅜㅜ And I got upset because of the swelling. I wondered if this tight, swollen look would ever go down?.. to that extent. I couldn’t even remember what my original face looked like. It hurt and irritated me enough to think, why did I even do this! But I had to recover quickly, so I drank things like protein shakes. *Days 3–4 The swelling was at its peak. I wondered if a person’s face could swell this much. Since there was an intraoral incision, even speaking or using my mouth was so hard. The director said I could eat small amounts of food, but chewing hurt, so I couldn’t eat food. Until then, I went to the clinic every day for disinfection and cleaned the inside of my mouth with water. *Days 5–6 The swelling started going down little by little, and my facial features began to show. From this point, it was about the level of swelling after getting wisdom teeth removed. Maybe it was because I walked a lot and diligently took pharmacy medication to reduce swelling? Anyway, it got much better! I also ate small amounts of food. *Day 7 At this point, I met a friend. I still had stitches inside my mouth and a little swelling left, but my friend said I was swollen, but it didn’t look strange; rather, it looked firm and made me look younger. On days 5–6, the major swelling suddenly went down a lot! At this point, I cut food into tiny pieces and ate everything. Of course, I still couldn’t chew well. *Day 10 My condition was terrible from the aftereffects of general anesthesia and wasn’t coming back. And that terrible condition led to sinusitis... The clinic told me to keep spitting out phlegm, but even though I did, pus had accumulated in my sinuses ㅠ Around this time, the stitches inside my mouth suddenly started falling out. They had said that if the stitches didn’t fall out, they would have to remove them, but thankfully they fell out. *Day 20 The inflammation on the cheekbone surgery side disappeared, but the sinusitis still wasn’t completely cured. At this time, the director checked my progress and said the left cheekbone seemed like it might settle slightly protruding, so he suggested a very light refixation. Of course, there would be no cost. But I didn’t do it because I was scared of the aftereffects of general anesthesia. It wasn’t that it looked strange or that the surgery had gone wrong; it just seemed like the director wanted an even better result. But I was satisfied! *Day 30 Most of the major swelling had gone down, so I started exercising too. I worked out at the gym and swam. Of course, I couldn’t do it intensely. I still couldn’t eat tough or hard foods. A little minor swelling remained, but only I could notice it. People around me said my face got smaller. *Day 50 I thought I might have developed cheek hollowing, so I bombarded the consultant with questions. From last September until now (May), they answered every question, reassured me, and listened to everything ㅜㅜ Since it was my first surgery, I was even more scared, but they answered everything in detail. The conclusion was that minor swelling can continue to go down even until 6 months, so we should watch it. *Month 3 By now, things had mostly settled, and I lived forgetting that I even had surgery. But when I touched the cheekbone area, it still felt tingly and numb! *Months 5–6 From this point, maybe because of the jaw Botox I had been getting before, I developed a little flesh along the jawline, and maybe because the upper inside of the mouth was incised, a tiny bit of scar tissue formed above the nasolabial fold on the front cheek. They said they would check at the 6-month follow-up whether liposuction would be possible! Since the cheekbones were reduced, I think preexisting things became more noticeable and caused these side effects. I plan to wait the full 6 months, and if it doesn’t go away, I’ll do a very slight liposuction, or if it’s scar tissue, I’ll proceed with scar-tissue injections and radiofrequency! I also got a lot of the clinic’s slimming injections (contour injections), but there was no noticeable effect. Sensation fully came back in my left cheekbone. On the right, it still feels numb when I touch it! Since cheekbone reduction is a major surgery, you’ll probably be very scared, but I think you just need to take about two full weeks off and recover well!! Of course, minor swelling tends to last quite a while, so don’t expect it to disappear perfectly and quickly; take your time and be patient!! Even if I went back, I think I’d still have the surgery. So far, I don’t have any major side effects, and even if I do have some, it’s better than the face I had with cheekbones....ㅎ If you have a serious complex about it, I recommend it. I’m going to check my progress tomorrow! I’ll go to the follow-up and write an additional review!! Below are the things I ate during recovery ㅎㅎ 0–3 days *Protein shake + brown rice misutgaru powder *Plain rice porridge *Juice *Shading tea (I still drink this consistently even now) 4–7 days *Steamed eggs *Soft tofu with soy sauce poured on top 7–10 days *Cold noodles (cut into small pieces and scooped up with a spoon) *Sundae gukbap (I also chopped this up small and swallowed it with barely any chewing) *Dumpling soup (smashed everything up and swallowed!) *Seolleongtang (same! The meat was tough, so I couldn’t eat it) *Various breads, cakes, desserts (They say eating too much dairy slows recovery, so moderately..!) 11–20 days *I ate without being picky, but avoided tough or large foods (avoided jelly, squid, thick meat, etc.) 20 days onward *My mouth opened well and the intraoral stitches were gone, so I started eating everything freely!
