My mom was so stressed because aging made her eyelids droop more and more, and she felt her age showed whenever she took photos, so I took her for cosmetic surgery as a filial gift! I’d heard that for middle-aged eye surgery, it’s best to go to a clinic that has handled a lot of eyes, and after going around for consultations, I understood why. The quality of the consultations differed by clinic, and the way they pointed out what needed improvement really varied from clinic to clinic. I found a place that specializes only in eyes, has a lot of experience with middle-aged surgeries, and has many reviews for incisional double eyelid surgery, and had her surgery done there. I think choosing a private clinic was the right decision. We visited the clinic through an acquaintance’s recommendation, and I liked that the consultation focused mainly on the director. I was worried about including ptosis correction, but they designed it well so it would look natural without giving a wide-eyed, staring look. Since my mom lives outside the city, I was also worried that she’d have to be away from me after surgery, but they even gave us contact information and told her to reach out to the director if she had any questions, which I was so grateful forㅜ_ㅜ But my mom likes taking walks, so the swelling went down quickly, and the line came out so clean that she’s really satisfied. Just looking at her eyes, she looks so much younger, so I feel really proud too. I think I understand why people keep talking about upper blepharoplasty as a filial cosmetic surgery. Especially before surgery, whenever my mom opened her eyes, she had a habit of using her forehead and glabella to open them, which put strain there and caused wrinkles. After surgery, while practicing opening her eyes with her actual eye muscles, that improved a lot too! I’m glad she had the surgery before the creases became deeper. She had upper blepharoplasty + epicanthoplasty + ptosis correction together, and aside from the early swelling, she recovered quickly without much pain or difficulty. I guess just because it’s middle-aged eye surgery doesn’t mean the swelling always lasts a long time! I’m so, so grateful that the director paid such careful attention haha
