(Long read) Consultation review for male eyes (+fat grafting) and plastic surgery ...

I'm a man in my late 20s, and I've had a complex about my eyes for a long time, so I had been considering surgery. Back then, my original face was still okay, and I worried that doing it without really knowing better might make me look greasy, and especially these days male eyes with a clearly defined double-eyelid line seem to be really unpopular, so I postponed it because I thought I might end up regretting it for nothing. I don't know if this was the right approach, but I went in with the mindset of just getting consulted first and thinking after that. Quick summary - I booked consultations at three places first Clinic A, Dr. A: found it through photo reviews in this community Consultation fee x It's a factory-style clinic, so there were a lot of people, and while waiting to take nose photos, there were tons of foreigners around. Is this a danger signal? The doctor explained things very calmly and plainly, and answered my questions well. From the reviews and my own experience, it seems like he tends to create a natural-looking line. I even prepared celebrity photos just in case, but he didn't ask for them. He also didn't show me separate sample images; when I showed him the surgery review photos I brought, he said he could definitely make it look like that. (The review photo and the line he drew were similar to begin with, and both were non-incisional ptosis correction.) I also had concerns about my midface, so I asked about things other than my eyes, and although he didn't go into extreme detail, he answered enough about my features and face shape to be helpful. Personally, I felt a calmness that inspired trust, and his explanations were gentle and detailed. Factory-style, a building with 15 floors, quite a lot of people, no overtreatment, the manager tends to push, the manager was very kind, and the price was reasonable (with event discount) Clinic B, Dr. B: I looked him up on YouTube and in this community's posts; I was worried because there were almost no photo reviews, consultation fee x The consultation lasted less than 5 minutes... Since Clinic A is a factory-style clinic, I had some preconceptions. This was my first time considering plastic surgery, but while I sometimes go to skin clinics for treatments, I felt that factory-style places usually do treatments in a fairly standard way, more like a fixed course meal than something recommended according to my face condition or my needs, so I thought a factory-style plastic surgery clinic might be similar. I booked a consultation because I liked the photo reviews, but I had been planning to go with a one-doctor clinic if possible, since I thought they might care more about matching my face shape and features. But surprisingly, the doctor's consultation completely won me over... I booked a consultation for eyes and nose, so they took nose photos first, and there was a bit of a wait. I think I waited about 15 minutes. After the photos, I went downstairs and immediately consulted with the manager. I told the manager that, as I mentioned above, I'd had long-standing dissatisfaction with my eyes and definitely wanted to do them. As for my nose, I actually thought it wasn't perfect, but naturally it was on the attractive side, so my complaint wasn't really about the nose itself; rather, my midface felt a bit long, and more than the length, it looked longer and flatter than it should, which made my face look less three-dimensional and too broad in photos. So I was thinking about slightly lifting the nose tip or doing fat grafting to the cheeks. Because my eyes have a bit of ptosis, the manager said an incisional approach looked better for removing the excess and also recommended ptosis correction to improve the opening strength of the eyes. As for the nose, since the bridge is already fairly high, they said there was enough three-dimensionality and it was pretty already, so they recommended not touching it and instead recommended fat grafting. About 10 minutes after the manager left, the doctor came in. It may have been because he had just finished surgery and was tired, but his calm, gentle explanation really suited my taste and made me trust him. It may have been lip service, but the moment he sat down and looked at my face, he said I was masculine and good-looking, so maybe that helped; anyway, he had me close my eyes a few times and then immediately drew the line and showed me. The line felt natural, just like in the reviews. The front part of the eye had no visible line, and from around the middle to the end he drew a thin line, and he recommended ptosis correction. The manager must have taken very detailed notes, because he also carefully checked that one side was more covered than the other, and said that raising the ptosis correction a little more on that side would probably work. It was roughly similar to what I had in mind, and I liked that the line was natural. I even wondered inwardly whether the line was a bit low, but the doctor said my eyelids are thick and are covering the eyes, so there was no need to raise it high; just taking a little bit away would make them look much more open, and with ptosis correction they would come out naturally well. He asked whether I preferred incisional or non-incisional, and I said that more than whether it was incisional, I wanted a surgery that suited my eyes and came out naturally, and that I didn't mind incisional, so he said that because the distance between my eyes and eyebrows isn't that large, doing it incisional would shorten that distance and look awkward, so he did not recommend incisional and recommended non-incisional ptosis correction instead. I had saved celebrity photos in case he asked, but he didn't ask. Honestly, I was more interested in realistic review photos than in trying to copy a celebrity eye, so it wasn't a big deal. When I showed him the photos and said I came because of his review photos, he said that one had also included removing some fat from the upper eyelid because there was a bit of fat there, and he asked whether I was bothered by upper eyelid fat. I looked in the mirror once and said I'd never really thought about it. He said then there was no need to do it, and that he could definitely do something similar to that photo. (That photo was also non-incisional ptosis correction.) He also consulted me about the nose and fat grafting. For the nose, for the same reasons the manager mentioned, he recommended not touching it, and said that because my nostrils are already a bit exposed, raising the tip further would make the nostril exposure too much and not look good. More than that, the flatness of the midface is largely because the front cheek area lacks volume, so he recommended fat grafting to the front cheeks and also a bit to the nasolabial fold area. He said that would give much more dimension. When I said I was worried that cheek fat grafting might cause sagging around the nasolabial folds, he said that if we also add a bit there, it would be fine. I also asked about why my face looks broad in photos, and he said I seem like the kind of person whose face shows changes in weight very clearly, and that my eyes, nose, and lower face are on the larger side, but because my mouth is a bit small, the midface empty space feels large. To improve this, he asked whether I was considering facial contouring because my bone structure is quite defined (he was asking purely, not recommending), and when I said contouring is really my absolute last resort and I wasn't really thinking about it, he said fat grafting would be better then. I asked whether lip filler would help, and he said if I were to do lip filler, the lower lip already has some thickness, so if done wrong it could make the lips look swollen, so if I do it, I should focus on the upper lip. As I wrote above, I asked about a lot of things, but he answered everything smoothly in his calm, soft-spoken way, and I could feel the interaction between my needs and his opinion, so I was very satisfied. I didn't check the exact time, but I think the consultation lasted at least 15 minutes? Since I could only read a few photo reviews and not many comments, I don't know exactly how skilled the doctor is, but if he performs surgery the way he explained in the consultation and the way the review photo I brought looks, I think I'd bow deeply in gratitude. The doctor was really cool. I bought two extra Bacchus drinks while getting one for myself, planning to give them to the manager and the doctor, but the doctor said it was fine and told me to drink the two myself, so I awkwardly had to refuse Ah, and I don't have severe Mongolian folds, but the front of my eyes feel slightly closed, so if needed I was thinking about inner canthoplasty, but I got so taken in by the doctor that I forgot to ask. When I mentioned it to the manager, they said the doctor would probably have brought it up if it were necessary, and that it probably wasn't needed, but I'm not sure. I hadn't decided that I definitely needed inner canthoplasty, so it's fine, but I was curious, so next week when I go to Clinic C, I definitely plan to ask. After the doctor's consultation, I talked with the manager about the price and pre-booking, but I wasn't sure whether I should mention the price, so I won't bring it up for now. They gave the final price after applying discounts for doing fat grafting to the cheeks and nasolabial area separately, then discounting more for doing it together, and then discounting again for doing the eye surgery and fat grafting at the same time. The final total for the eyes plus fat grafting was just a little over 2 million won, so I was tempted because I thought the price was reasonable. (I don't have much experience, so I may not know whether the quote was good. I also only went in checking prices for the eyes.) There does seem to be some pre-booking push, but since I was already won over by the doctor before the manager even started pushing, whenever the manager said anything I just agreed and said yes, yes, that's good lol. The manager did seem a bit sales-minded, but not to an extent that bothered me, and they were extremely kind. It felt like textbook service industry friendliness, chatting cheerfully back and forth. I ended up making a pre-booking at the factory-style clinic in a way I never expected, but I'm still planning to go to more consultations and do more searching, so surgery is still undecided, though this is currently my strongest candidate. I was tempted by the bundled price, but after thinking calmly about it, I feel like fat grafting is the kind of thing where it would be better to go to a specialist clinic that only does that, so even if I do it, it'll probably only be the eyes. I said I'm definitely planning to do the eyes, but I'm still unsure about fat grafting, and they said it's possible to cancel the reservation but difficult to add later, so for now I pre-booked both and was told to decide by a week before the surgery date and call them then. If I decide not to do either the eyes or the fat grafting, the deposit will be fully refunded. Right after that I went to Clinic B, and compared with Clinic A, it completely shattered my prejudice against one-doctor clinics. The manager here was also very kind, but the consultation wasn't very detailed. They briefly heard my complaints about my eyes and said they would pass them on to the doctor, and since this clinic doesn't do fat grafting, they recommended Juvelook instead. They said these days many people do it with Juvelook, but I didn't know what it was, so I looked it up later. After waiting a bit, I went in once the doctor's surgery was finished, and the doctor's consultation was also extremely short It really wasn't even 5 minutes. He had me close my eyes and set the line, and seeing that he drew a line similar to Clinic A's, it does seem like non-incisional ptosis correction suits my eyes. The doctor recommended non-incisional ptosis correction and upper canthoplasty. When I asked about my uneven eyes, saying I didn't mind the asymmetry but wondered what to do about the side that is more covered, he said that side could just be lifted a bit more. I don't know whether my eyes were so clear-cut that he gave a compact explanation and that was it, but it felt less like he was drawing out my needs and more like, 'You came for an eye consultation, so here's the solution,' and done. He also didn't ask about my preferred style, and he showed example photos of the procedures he recommended to me. When I said I had considered inner canthoplasty but hadn't considered upper canthoplasty, so I didn't really know what effect it would have, he said the distance between my eyes is appropriate, so instead of inner canthoplasty, it would be better to slightly improve the Mongolian fold with upper canthoplasty. I thought the nose shouldn't be touched, so I didn't ask about it, and I brought up my dissatisfaction with the midface a little, and he said my front cheeks are very flat that because my nose is high and the midface is long, but the front cheek area lacks volume, it looks sunken, and this clinic doesn't do fat grafting, but they do a lot of Juvelook these days, and that getting it three times at one-month intervals would be good. After the doctor's consultation, I briefly discussed the cost with the manager and that was it. It's good that there wasn't any push, but I also didn't feel like either the doctor or the manager was really trying to pay detailed attention. Maybe I didn't look like I was very interested...? I definitely want to do my eyes, though; this may just be a matter of personal taste. I didn't feel much trust, so I excluded it from the candidate list. The eye price was average, and there was no separate event. Juvelook seems like a procedure, but it was expensive. If you do all three sessions, it's almost the same as Clinic A's fat grafting quote. I also gave them Bacchus drinks here. At Clinic A, the doctor started the consultation as soon as he sat down, so I gave them out later after everything ended, but here the doctor started consulting as soon as he sat down and then left quickly at the end, so I missed the timing; I thought I should at least give one to the manager, but they said they were giving one to the doctor, so I took out another and gave two. Next week when I go to Clinic C, I want to book one more consultation so I can finish with a total of four consultations, but I don't know where to go. Fat grafting seems to have more minor side effects than other surgeries, based on YouTube videos and reviews, so I'm planning to do the eyes first and then look carefully and slowly for a really clean, skilled doctor. It seems like there will be less of a gender difference than with the eyes, so I even read a few women's reviews; if anyone is really satisfied, I would be very grateful if you could tell me the clinic and doctor's name. And my face shape probably needs to move toward someone like Nam Joo-hyuk, but I wonder if the jaw is the problem. A square jaw is good, but the lower face feels a bit not round enough? That said, I don't plan to do contouring, so I guess I should just manage body fat so facial fat doesn't build up, keep up with jaw massage and such, and rely on skin clinic procedures. If anyone has a jaw procedure that might actually work, please recommend that too. I've had jaw Botox twice. If my jaw joint starts acting up, I'll keep getting it regularly. Laser hair removal becomes inconvenient because for a few days after it's hard to shave, so I stopped and started again recently. This time I'm planning to keep going until the hair stops growing.
