Nose Re-Surgery@rhino-redo

Silicone removal after 20 years, bulbous nose, deviated septum surgery!!

<March 2025><March 2025><March 2025><October 2024. Before nostril contracture developed.><Immediately after surgery><Day 1><Day 10><Day 10. ><Day 10>I had bulbous nose surgery 20 years ago.. I thought they would make my big, thick nose smaller and sharper, but at that plastic surgery clinic in Apgujeong, whose name I don’t even remember now, they made my large nose even bigger. They inserted 5 mm silicone to make my thick nose look sharper, and when I saw the result, I cried my eyes out. It was too high. If I lay on my side, I could set a dining table on top of my nose. I went to the clinic crying and told them it was too big and too high, and that it wasn’t what I wanted. One week after surgery, I had another surgery to replace it with 3 mm silicone. The doctor felt very sorry and said this was the best that could be done. He said the lowest silicone had been put in and there was nothing else that could be done. Looking back now, I think in that doctor’s aesthetic view, because of my high forehead, he really thought 5 mm silicone looked pretty and operated that way. Anyway, I thought a pretty nose was out of the question in this lifetime and lived with a big nose. But in 2025, the tip of my nose started to ache and tingle. It wasn’t extremely painful, but the aching sensation continued unpleasantly. So I compared it with past photos, and wasn’t my nostril becoming triangular? Contracture had come. After being fine for 20 years, it happened in just a few months. I don’t know the reason. Even though I had silicone inserted and surgery done, I hit my nose here and there a lot, and I had Rejuran and nasal ala Botox, so I can’t know what the cause was. Once I thought I needed revision surgery, I intensely wanted to remove the silicone inside my nose. Since I myself am also a doctor (though my specialty is far from plastic surgery and ENT), I asked people around me in related departments for places that were good. They mentioned Cobijou, ㄷㄴ, ㄷㅍㄹㅅ, April, ㄷㅇㅇ, ㅎㅇㅇㄷ, etc. Among them, I liked Cobijou the most because the review photos showed noses that were ski-slope shaped, pointed, and not high, and I heard recommendations saying the director’s hands were on another level. With a nervous heart, I made a reservation, had a consultation, brought photos Photoshopped into the shape I wanted, and kept asking questions. At first the director listened to everything, but later seemed to get tired of it. I asked the same questions again and again... I get it..ㅜ Anyway, the director said not to make it high, to reduce the size, and to make it natural, and since that matched my opinion, I decided to have surgery here! On the day, I came in at 9:40 a.m. and was discharged at 3:40 p.m., and I think the surgery took about an hour and a half. In addition to the planned silicone removal, there was Medpor in my nasal tip, and the doctor said it was difficult to detach and remove it. He said that by correcting the deviated septum and aligning even the nasal tip and nostrils, it turned out prettier than planned. He didn’t use ear cartilage either. Up to the surgery itself, it was easy. It didn’t hurt either. From the night of surgery, Hell. I was someone who slept breathing 100% only through my nose, with no mouth breathing at all, so while sleeping I unknowingly closed my mouth, and I kept waking up every few seconds because I couldn’t breathe through the cotton stuffed in my nostrils, staying up all night. I seriously thought, is this what panic disorder is, is this what suffocating feels like, I’m going to die. Daytime life with the nostrils blocked was a piece of cake. After the cotton was removed the next day, it felt like a window had opened in my nose. Since the septum was corrected too, breathing became completely better. On day 7, I had the splint removed and saw the director, and he prescribed more antibiotics for my still-thick nose. Since I ask so many questions, I have this hallucination that when the director sees my face, he backs away.. Post-op days 1, 2, 3,...10 were the life of a mentally unstable person. Especially after the splint came off, other people were uploading photos of straight, extended nasal bridges, so I felt devastated looking in the mirror wondering why mine was a bulbous nose. I comforted myself, thinking it was because my skin is thick and a lot had been removed, including silicone, Medpor, and scar tissue. Then I looked in the mirror again and felt devastated. The period of being mentally unstable, looking in the mirror whenever I turn around, is ongoing. In the meantime, the nose is getting a little smaller. At a glance, it looks like a small, pretty nose. And being silicone-free makes me feel a little better. The director said that because the base of my nose is asymmetric, he would at least align the nostrils with cartilage, and the sprout-like nostrils that were made from that are so cute. My nose still has a lot left to settle, so I’ll end the review here and come back after it settles more! Overall, I’m satisfied with Cobijou! If you want something very flashy and dramatic, it may not be a fit, but I wanted to be natural.. And as recommended, his hands were good; the stitching at the columella incision is art. Seeing the clean suturing after surgery made me feel relieved, thinking the surgery must have gone well. On day 10, the columella scar is only slightly red haha I just hope the nostrils, which were the problem, keep the same sprout shape as now.
