I had surgery this evening and now I’m home writing a review.
I was a case with a lot of procedures done (bilateral osteotomy + nasal bridge + nasal tip + lowering the nostril rim + alar reduction, all with ear cartilage), and I had removal surgery a little over 5 months after the original surgery.
Also, I thought the tissue on the ceiling of my nostrils was scar tissue, but when they opened it up, I don’t know if it was all cartilage that had been pressed down or grafted cartilage... anyway, it was cartilage.. (the doctor told me; since the consultation, he said it seemed too severe to be scar tissue and was probably cartilage.)
The osteotomy and alar reduction had already been done and couldn’t be restored, and I thought my nose shape might actually look prettier because of them, so I didn’t worry too much and just had the removal.
Honestly, the way it looks now isn’t much different from a surgically enhanced nose. haha And people say that after removal, the space where the silicone was feels soft and squishy..
For me, it’s like that from the nasal tip all the way to the bridge. It feels like touching a very ripe persimmon. The feeling is extremely soft and mushy...
During surgery it hurt so much,, I was put under sedation briefly and then woke up.. I was curious about what they were doing, so I kept my eyes open and the doctor told me to close them.. The sensation was like they were cutting my nose with small scissors, snip snip, like cutting naengmyeon noodles with scissors. I think it was the sound of cutting out the ear cartilage.... It felt like my nose had turned into naengmyeon noodles... Both in this community and at hospitals, people talk about removal as if it’s barely even surgery, so I went in with a light heart, but it hurt so much.... and it took longer than I expected (about 1 hour and 30 minutes), so it was hard...
The doctor said that if he injected too much anesthetic, the tissue could swell and the suturing might not come out nicely, so it did feel a bit under-anesthetized. He said I’m quite sensitive... I felt all the stitching. It really hurt.... So later he gave me a few more shots of local anesthesia, and it was much better ㅠㅠ.... There’s almost no swelling, and still almost no bruising, but there’s a very slight yellow bruise around the eye area.
While operating, the doctor said there was a huge amount of ear cartilage in my nose and asked if I was sure it was done by a specialist.. He asked the hospital name and told the nurse to quickly look it up to see whether the doctor was really a specialist... (He was a specialist, though..) And that doctor was really young, and he knew right away... He asked if the doctor who did it wasn’t young.. I guess from looking at the surgery, it’s obvious when someone lacks experience ㅡㅡ The doctor who did mine acted like no one was as good at noses as he was ㅡㅡ ugh,,, I don’t know what I trusted in such a young doctor to get surgery from him... It’s my fault.
Anyway, I think it’s too early to talk about the results right now.. I can see the nose shape through the taping, and the nasal tip still completely looks like a surgically enhanced nose ㅠㅠ It’s totally different from my natural nose... sigh.... I’ll have to wait and see.
There weren’t any removal reviews for rare procedures like lowering the nostril rim, so I was very anxious.
For now, they said that as long as they do an open approach, anything can be removed, so I trusted the director and had everything completely removed. --------- For reference, I did not have the removal done at the hospital where I had the original surgery,,, I had it removed somewhere else.
People keep saying it’s better to have removal done where you had the original surgery,,, but after going to consultations, I found out that if they open it up, they can see everything, so there’s no issue at all with doing it somewhere else~
So I recommend paying to have it removed somewhere else~
If I had surgery at the place that did the original procedure, it would’ve been free, so I feel like they might have roughly sutured the columella too, and I would’ve felt uneasy in many ways. Since another place is getting paid, they’d probably pay a bit more attention.
Oh, and I won’t reveal the hospital information yet. I’ll tell you once I have a rough idea of the results~ I think it’s way too early to say right now.
