Since I was young, my lower jaw gradually protruded more and more, and I was teased by friends and felt severe stress about my appearance. I also had functional discomfort, such as difficulty eating tough foods and difficulty biting off food with my front teeth, so my confidence dropped a lot and I became afraid of standing in front of people. As these discomforts continued, after becoming an adult and completing my military service, I decided to have double-jaw surgery. While looking into hospitals, I chose Reasons Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery because it had many reviews, the director had solid experience, and the consultation was kind!!! Right after surgery, my throat hurt because of the blood drain and it was hard to breathe. Since I had to keep sitting up, my lower back and hips hurt too, and I went through such a difficult time that even drinking water was hard. But the next day, after the blood drain was removed and I had an X-ray and intraoral disinfection, breathing and eating became much easier. On day 3, I was discharged and continued recovering at home. As the swelling and bruising gradually went down and I got used to the wafer in my mouth, things slowly became more bearable. After that, I was still physically exhausted because my diet was mostly liquid, but with swelling laser treatment, the wounds healed, the swelling decreased, I became able to speak, and sensation gradually started returning. After the stitches were removed, I could take out the wafer when eating, which made things much more comfortable, and I could brush my teeth too, so the stress about hygiene management also decreased!!! haha Afterward, the swelling went down a lot, but the nose and cheekbone areas felt relatively slower to recover. There was some discomfort from the screws in the upper gum, but it did not interfere much with daily life :) Gradually, I became able to eat most foods except hard or tough ones, sensation slowly returned, and the bruising and residual swelling on my face decreased. Now I can do almost all activities, and I have recovered enough to do intense exercise like working out at the gym without difficulty. Aside from the remaining reduced sensation and residual swelling, I am spending my 3rd postoperative month feeling very satisfied overall.
