I previously posted photos up to day 2 after removal, and I think about 12 days? have passed now haha I’m leaving a review with photos up to day 10.
To summarize briefly: I had surgery 3 years ago, and mine was not a full removal. Among silicone 1.5 mm, ear cartilage, and septal cartilage, I removed the silicone, ear cartilage, and part of the septal cartilage in the nasal bridge area, and left the septal cartilage in the columella area. (Oh, and they said the hump had been shaved down a bit insufficiently during the first surgery, so they shaved it a little more. That’s why I have some bruising ㅜㅜ)
Surgery → day 2 splint removal → day 4 partial taping removal and columella stitch removal → day 10 intranasal stitch removal The doctor says the inside of my nose has healed a lot now and that I probably don’t need to come back anymore. They said there will probably still be swelling at the nasal tip, but swelling from removal surgery is very subtle, so there likely won’t be any major changes.
They said that from around 3 months later, I should gradually be able to make a pig nose a little bit. Now I need to take care of the columella scar so it heals well~
Below is the content of my previous post. ----------------------------------------------- I had the removal surgery on the morning of 9/10 and got my splint removed today~
3 years ago, I had my hump shaved and had surgery with ear cartilage + septal cartilage + about 1.5 mm silicone. We had decided to do the surgery without inserting silicone, but in the middle of surgery the doctor woke me up and said it would be better to insert even a thin piece, so after thinking about it, I had it inserted. Of course, I had stiffness from the septal cartilage and things like that, but since I’m not very sensitive, I just lived with it. But my nasal bridge was originally on the higher side, and maybe because silicone was added, I disliked that it looked obviously surgical and showed through, so I decided to have it removed.
The hospital where I originally had surgery said they don’t do removals, and I went to consultations at several places, but most recommended revision surgery, so I was conflicted. In the end, I decided to have surgery at a place that only does removal.
As I went to consultations, they said that my septal cartilage had been placed along the tip area of the nasal dorsum and the columella area in an ∠ shape, so while it was well fixed, it probably felt harder than other people’s. I just thought everyone was originally like this haha
At the hospital where I decided to have surgery, they said full removal was possible if I wanted, but because my original nose had a hump + slightly drooping nasal tip, they recommended leaving the septal cartilage in the columella area. I debated between full removal and partial removal, but in the end I left the columella area as it was and removed the silicone, ear cartilage, and part of the septal cartilage~
The photos are from before plastic surgery, after plastic surgery, and today, day 2 after removal, after getting the splint removed~ Since I had open surgery, all that’s left now is going to get the stitches removed the day after tomorrow.
I hope it heals well without inflammation or scarring ㅜㅜ I hadn’t thought about things like contracture, but after seeing reviews in a community, there were terms like contraction phase, so I’m a little worried..
