Day 1 Review of My Double Chin Surgery (Paid for by Me, Voluntary Review)

No one told me to, but as a lurker on this community, I felt like rambling a bit about my stage 1 double chin surgery review.. I’ll write it casually. First, my stats were around 160/50, but I recently gained weight fast and now I’m about 58. My friends all say I have a sharp face, but honestly that’s just because they’re only looking at me vaguely, and I know better than anyone how severe my double chin is.. From the front I look slim, but my chin tip is pointy (this can also be made with chin filler). But photos taken from the side, or seeing myself from the side, are so disgusting that I deleted every photo ;; I was in denial on purpose lol But now there was going to be a big event where I’d be taking a ton of photos openly! Just the photographer and shooting fee was going to be over 500. But there was no way I could take photos with a body like this.. So I decided to do the double chin surgery I’d been eyeing for a long time. Luckily, I suddenly had about 300 of spare money, and this surgery cost exactly 300 (it was originally 310, but my coordinator matched the price well + if you go through a friend referral you also get a 5% discount! I went without knowing anyone, but I confidently asked my coordinator to apply the 5% friend referral discount lol and they did it too.. Her face and personality were both beautiful.) I wondered if it was okay to write the coordinator’s info freely? Since there wasn’t anything public in the hospital info, I’ll skip that for now.. If anyone’s curious, ask and I’ll leave a private comment (I think my assigned coordinator is maybe the most senior? The vibe just felt like she’d been doing this for a long time and was very skilled.. and her KakaoTalk replies were super fast, and before surgery she also called to check whether I had any special concerns ㅠㅠ and even on her day off she replied on KakaoTalk..) So I booked the surgery date and had the surgery yesterday. I’ll write down my impressions. I feel like most people only post before-and-after photos, and not detailed thoughts about the surgery preparation, so as someone who had surgery yesterday, I’m writing this while it’s still fresh in my memory. ✔️ There are tons of Chinese people / foreigners (there are so many Chinese patients that it somehow feels trustworthy..) ✔️ All the nurses in the operating room waiting area are women in their 50s So even when I woke up after anesthesia, they linked arms with me like a mom would and took me to the bathroom, which made me feel a bit more at ease (I’m the type who has a hard time asking questions at a plastic surgery clinic because of the coldness that younger staff in their 20s-30s sometimes have.. but the nurses in their 50s explain everything first, ask questions for me, and are warm.. ㅠㅠ) ✔️ Before surgery, they started an IV on a motion bed (The motion bed was so good.. while setting up the IV, they connected the same line that had been inserted into my arm and used it for the sleep anesthesia solution in the operating room too? So I was really glad I didn’t have to sit in the cold operating room with a needle stuck in my arm .. I fell asleep warmly while getting the IV, and then the doctor came, designed the line, and I went into the operating room with the IV still attached) ✔️ An anesthesiologist is on-site, and when you lie down after entering the operating room, the anesthesiologist introduces themselves by name and as a board-certified anesthesiologist, and says the solution may feel a bit uncomfortable when it goes in. I thought they’d tell me to count backward from 10 with a pounding heart, but they didn’t even make me do that. So I was like, huh, am I just falling asleep like this? And then the surgery was already over (amazing). It just felt like I went to the plastic surgery clinic, slept, and came back .. slept while getting the IV, slept under sedation anesthesia.. I woke up on the motion bed, and the nurses kept telling me not to sleep anymore and that I needed to open my eyes and wake up from the anesthesia. Then they supported me and said, “Please go to the bathroom once, bring your phone out too, and keep your eyes open while resting.” So I brought out my phone and woke myself up by replying to KakaoTalk messages.. ✔️ I received a bag with swelling medicine + water + ice-cooling gauze (and a Xiaomi pen too. I was like, what is this? lol) and other things And I got a prescription for medicine to take at the hospital (I think the medicine cost was about 68,000 won for two weeks, and there was also a separate packet of strong painkillers. That price includes everything) My before and after is dramatic even to my own eyes The doctor was Dr. Kim Jae-hee, and after the surgery she asked me whether I had ever gotten contour injections ㅠㅠ She said that all the fat + muscle inside my chin had stuck together as a whole, so the adhesions from having had contour injections were very severe.. She also said my muscles had become too thin. Since there’s no reason for me to look inside my chin, I was shocked by hearing this for the first time. “Then was my surgery done well? ㅠㅠ” I started worrying. When I said I thought I had gotten A-cure injections and things like that, she said A-cure means reoperation. At that point it was basically a revision surgery, but she said she still did it well, and that separating the fat and muscle one by one while controlling bleeding was important (there must have been a lot of blood). So she said further revision surgery is impossible for me and that this operation is the end now. Then, when she finally removed the tteang-gi-mi and explained how to wear it, I saw my jawline for the first time. But even on the first day, there wasn’t much swelling, and somehow it looked very slim.. When I got home, I tried on the tteang-gi-mi by myself and even took a photo.. I suddenly felt like if I lose weight too and some time passes, it’ll have an insanely good effect!! I hadn’t eaten anything since dinner the night before because I was fasting. Surgery at 3:30 PM (had to arrive at the hospital at 2:30 PM) Woke up at 7:45 (I’m not sure how long the surgery took; maybe I took a while to wake up) Arrived home at 9. I was so hungry that I ordered rice porridge, but it was a bit inconvenient to eat with a spoon (because I was wearing the tteang-gi-mi) So I poured the porridge into a paper cup and drank it, and that was much more comfortable
