I have been bothered by some ridiculous comments over the past few days, so I am deleting the parts about the hospital where I had surgery and revising the post itself.
(I am deleting the original text about the hospital before surgery because it is hard to revise.)
I did not write this to hear nonsense like being called a broker or whatever, but being attacked like that is genuinely irritating.
I came to know another community through this community as well, and I received a lot of help from both places.
(When I said I got help, they started saying again that I had joined and immediately began talking about a specific hospital. I am a man, and I am married. I had been getting information using my wife's account. But I could not write even my own posts using my wife's account, could I? So I signed up under my own name and wrote the post, and that seems to have been another source of misunderstanding. From my point of view, it is really absurd, but I let it go thinking, well, I suppose people could have seen it that way.)
I got information here and there, looked into other hospitals, and had my nose surgery without implants,
and although it may still be too early to make a final judgment, compared with my previous nose, I love both the function and the design so much that
my days have become enjoyable, and I have gained a lot of confidence, which has been great.
From now on, care is important, so I am looking at the posts from that other community and this community to observe changes in my nose and get help.
I will keep coming back, ask about my nose condition, and offer advice where I can.
But now they are saying things like, once surgery goes well, you stop being active altogether.
Well, maybe there are people like that. But they seem not to realize that people like me, who take very good care of themselves, will keep participating from time to time.
Seeing them rush in confidently after looking at just one or two things, it does not seem all that different from arguing in politics about whether someone is left-wing or not.
If I had even received money from that hospital, I would not even be upset...
But I am quite offended that they saw it that way when I merely wrote a post while feeling happy and excited every day.
Anyway, I will delete the information about the hospital where I had the surgery and my before-and-after photos.
I said I would keep it short, but I got excited and ended up writing a bit long again.
I will remove all the parts that could lead to misunderstandings.

Sharing the photos. hahaha
Since the focus is on the nose, I covered my eyes hahaha
The first photo is a 3D CT scan, and my nasal bone is quite severely crooked; the director said he was amazed every time he looked at it, The second is a photo taken on the day of surgery, with a sketch and a selfie haha The third is a photo taken just now in the elevator while coming back up after going out
I had eye and nose surgery... and I am not someone with an extreme before-and-after difference... but still, it definitely looks better after the procedure
Anyway, I am glad that everything seems to have gone well. From here on, I will focus on managing things so that no complications arise
Can I not make this photo go to the very bottom? It is up at the top, and ahh
---------------------------- Added a 7-day update below the original post ------------------------------
Before surgery, I did my own research as much as I could, but there was nowhere that properly explained the discomfort after surgery, so I wrote mainly about that. (These are not complications; they are the process that anyone who has septum surgery goes through after surgery.)
Before surgery, I had a wave of anxiety that maybe the so-called table death could happen to me too~ Two weeks before surgery, I applied for insurance that pays 200 million won in the event of death. I also added it to a policy worth 100 million won that I had signed up for four years earlier, so I prepared things so that my family would receive a total of 300 million won if I died. I disclosed all the details about the surgery to the insurance company. But the insurance company was more worried about suicide than about surgery. I realized once again that it is one of the three major bad insurance companies that have still not paid out all suicide claims, and the Financial Supervisory Service is pressuring them. The insurance company requested my withholding tax certificate and certificate of employment. Luckily, since I work for a large corporation, they gently told me that there would likely be no refusal. About 4 to 5 days before surgery, the application was completed and final approval was granted. I took 15 days off from work as sick leave. I confirmed with the insurance company that 3.5 million won of the approved cost and all examination costs would be reimbursed 100% as actual expenses, so I decided on surgery.
Days 1 to 6 after nose surgery
▶ 2016.12.16 Day of surgery
Before going into the hospital room, I paid for the surgery by card. I wanted to build card spending records, so I split the payment across three credit cards by charging 1 million won, 1 million won, and the remainder, haha.
2:30 PM incision eye surgery - sedation anesthesia Suddenly I found myself traveling through London, Paris, Rome, the Czech Republic, New York, Chicago, and San Francisco, seeing them transformed into single-color geometric city images like movie jump cuts every 2 to 3 seconds. Then I stopped in a white city, opened my eyes, and it was the operating room (hallucinations from sedation anesthesia haha) I opened and closed my eyes, had both sides done, and fell asleep again When I came to, I was back in the hospital room~ And then I was moved right back to the operating room~
4:00 PM general anesthesia nose surgery Septal deviation + severe rhinitis + chronic nasal obstruction + hump nose + low nasal tip + arrow-shaped nose + long nose & large nose
The nurse said, "We are going to tie up your arms and legs, so don't be surprised" When answering the phone, which hand should I use? She asked that while specifying where to use the ear cartilage- Since I use my left hand a lot when talking on the phone, I asked to use the right side And after she said, "I will put on the oxygen mask," the next thing I knew I opened my eyes and was lying in the hospital room, and outside the window it was already dark, as if the sun had set long ago I remember it being around 7 PM
Neither my eyes nor my nose felt painful or sharp or anything like that at all. Truly, I did not even feel like I had been pricked by a needle. When I touched it lightly, sensation was still there, and I thought it would not hurt because of the painkillers (I was amazed for a moment, thinking medical technology has really improved a lot these days) But I could feel that my body was very tired and exhausted.
As soon as I opened my eyes, I messaged my family to say I was okay and fell asleep From this point on, the hard part began Even now, my eyes do not feel at all like I had surgery But whenever I look in the mirror, I keep getting startled My eyes got so much bigger and look so refreshed~~~
But my nose is a struggle day by day Because they put gauze inside my nose on the day of surgery, Friday, I had to breathe while talking through my mouth and while eating, which was extremely hard at first I expected they would take the gauze out before discharge on Saturday morning, but the director said that because I also had rhinitis surgery, it needed to stay blocked more After coming home, I could not use my phone, TV, or laptop for anything Even after about 30 minutes, my eyes would get terribly tired I realized this was what they meant when they said my enlarged eyes would make me dazzled and exhausted quickly I ended up sleeping nonstop
From Friday, Saturday, Sunday, until Monday morning~ After sleeping for about two hours, my throat would get so dry that I would wake up I repeated taking a sip of water from the tumbler and falling asleep again for about 60 hours By then, I had also gotten used to breathing and eating through my mouth while talking I was reminded once again that humans are creatures of adaptation
▶ Day 3 after surgery I prepared to go as the first patient on Monday morning, put my glasses on the splint, and drove to the hospital! Finally, the gauze was removed!!! But the joy was only momentary~~~~ The backlash of a newly started runny nose! A mountain after a mountain!!! I remembered the note given at discharge saying not to blow my nose for 2 to 3 months My nose was dripping like a small child in the neighborhood Dark, sticky mucus mixed with blood and discharge~ I was told that because they had additionally cleaned out everything inside the nose beyond the septum, there could be even more discharge
▶ Day 4 after surgery The runny nose kept flowing, which was suffocating and constantly bothering me, making me want to dig inside my nose and rip everything out I understood why they said never to wipe it away with a cotton swab I genuinely wanted to scrape everything out But I was afraid of inflammation and contracture, so with my puffy swollen eyes I went down to the pharmacy under the apartment building I bought 10,000 won worth of gauze and 3M skin-colored tape They asked if I had gone out looking like that ㅡㅡ Folding the gauze and placing it under my nose made things much better Because I could not see it flowing, and because only a little bit of mucus was absorbed and I did not have to see the runny nose in the mirror, the urge to wipe it away gradually faded But I told my family it looked awful and gross, though I had no choice because I still had to live
▶ Day 5 after surgery I took a selfie every morning The swelling could be seen going down, and most of the bruising seemed to be gone But when I woke up in the morning, the mucus that had stopped would start flowing again I put on gauze and ate breakfast and took medicine from the morning I wanted to take medicine three times a day at 8-hour intervals, so I ate breakfast at 8 a.m. and took medicine, ate lunch at 12, ate at 4 p.m. and took medicine, ate at 7 p.m., ate at midnight, took medicine, and went to sleep. I adjusted things to a maximum 8-hour interval and took the medicine in that pattern.
▶ Day 6 after surgery The amount of sticky mucus flowing out was visibly decreasing I kept gauze under my nose and changed it every 2 to 3 hours, and just a little while ago I confirmed that only a tiny amount had gotten on it. I feel good because I expect the runny nose will be gone by next week. My eyes still seem fine, and although I can only see a little because of the splint, my family says my nose seems fine too
▶ Day 7 after surgery (today) I went to the hospital in the morning, had the stitches removed from my eyes and nose, and came back I had already bought special titanium glasses called Dr. Nose Glasses in advance, so I am using those after removing the splint. They are light, but the lenses are so small that they look a bit funny haha
Anyway, at the hospital treatment room, I had my eye stitches removed and accidentally ended up seeing the eye director haha Two people were called by name and I stood up, but I was supposed to go to the treatment room... The other person was supposed to go see the eye director... The people got switched ㅡㅡ;;; Thanks to that, I met the eye director, and since the swelling in my right eye was not going down well, he gave me an injection to reduce the swelling. I have to travel next week, so I met the nose doctor and got a prescription for emergency medicine. And the day before departure, I will remove the silast that prevents the septum from bending. (After coming home, I searched the medicine I got today and found it was not an anti-inflammatory medicine but a one-week supply of medicine to reduce swelling)
For reference, this is the first time in my life I have ever felt this, but I was shocked when I could slightly see my nostrils in the mirror Until last week, I thought the nostrils were hidden places that you could only see if you tilted your head up and looked in a mirror~~~~
From now on, I will take extremely thorough care~! ^^
I like it 4
