My parents had me get double eyelid surgery in the winter break of 9th grade because they probably didn’t like seeing me use eyelid glue every day. Since I only had buried-suture surgery without any canthoplasty or anything like that, the swelling went down really fast and it turned out very thin and nicely done. After about 3 weeks, the bruising was gone and the swelling had gone down a lot, and after 2 months people were saying it looked completely natural. But maybe because I had the line made thin at the doctor’s recommendation in the beginning, I wanted an out-fold line, but it gradually turned into a concealed double eyelid.. Then it eventually loosened, and now that the CSAT is over, I’ve decided to have surgery againㅠㅠ Hmm, I’ve talked too long.. The three pieces of advice I want to give people getting double eyelid surgery are exactly these!
1. Take the doctor’s recommendation as reference, but also sufficiently express the style of eyes you want through plenty of preparation beforehand!
I was young, and I had never really thought about what style of double eyelid I wanted, so my consultation with the doctor was really short and I just did what the doctor recommended. Looking back, I ended up regretting it.. You shouldn’t stubbornly insist on your own style no matter what, but if you clearly understand the style you’re pursuing and go in to request it, you’ll have a surgery you regret less!
2. I recommend sleep anesthesia
Actually, there’s a lot of talk about anesthesia, so many places do local anesthesia, but I really didn’t feel even 1 bit of pain with sleep anesthesia.. On the other hand, my friends who had local anesthesia said they could gauge what childbirth pain might be like...! If you can find a hospital you trust, I recommend sleep anesthesia too
3. I do not recommend doing it at too young an age! When I became a high school student and suddenly gained weight, I started to wonder if that’s what made my eyes loosen.. Unless your complex is really severe, I recommend doing it after the CSAT at the end of 12th grade, when there’s really nothing else to do~^^!!
