In my previous nose surgery, I had it done naturally with “septal cartilage + silicone,” but over time, the columella became very deviated and blocked one side of my nose. Appearance-wise, my nose looked crooked and the nasal tip drooped, so this is a case where I decided on revision surgery. (My original nose was a long, arrow-shaped nose.) 1) At the first hospital, they said they would remove the silicone from the nasal bridge and use the remaining septal cartilage only for the nasal tip + use ear cartilage / They said they would place ear cartilage on both sides of the deviated columella to hold it in place. They said that if the silicone on the nasal bridge is removed, there will still be some height because of the capsule, so it should be okay without silicone. (Hospital: B) 2) At the second hospital, they said that if the silicone is removed, there would be a height gap once the nasal tip is raised, so considering absorption, they would insert 3 mm donated dermis, use ear cartilage for the nasal tip, and use donated costal cartilage for the deviated part of the columella / Since using an already deviated septal cartilage and weak ear cartilage could make it deviate again, they recommended that if autologous costal cartilage feels too burdensome, I should at least definitely use donated costal cartilage. (Hospital: HㅇㅇD) I feel somewhat uneasy because of the side effects related to donated costal cartilage, but if it were you, which hospital do you think you would choose? ㅠㅠ

융융잌 No matter what material is used, it does end up drooping eventually. Costal cartilage is mainly used when the nasal tip needs to be raised a lot for a more dramatic look, and in the end I think it’s a difference in the line!
도지지 Since ear cartilage is autologous, it seems like it would be a bit safer, but there is the concern about drooping...
블리리라리리 I feel like number one would somehow make me feel more at ease….
서야아아 [@융융잌] Right, each hospital pursues such different things that the more I look into it, the more my head hurts..
서야아아 [@도지지] I also want something safe and natural, but I’m torn between using donated costal cartilage and septal cartilageㅜ
서야아아 [@블리리라리리] For number 1, my nose is already very crooked, so I’m uneasy about using septal cartilage again, and for number 2, I’m a little uneasy about donated costal cartilage and donated dermis..
aokcn1307 If I were going to use costal cartilage, I think I’d use autologous costal cartilage... And it’s revision surgery, so why specifically septal cartilage and ear cartilage..?? On top of that, septal cartilage was used before, but there’s still enough left to use again? I also don’t know yet what I’ll end up using, but if I go for consultations at ㄹㅅㅍ and ㅈㅇ, I’m planning to ask about autologous costal cartilage first... ㅠㅠ I should make sure there’s no next revision surgery if at all possible...
서야아아 [@aokcn1307] I’m not that old either, so it’s kind of that feeling of wanting to save autologous costal cartilage just in case…
동도롱도룽 I went to several consultations, and they all said that if I’m not raising the nasal tip a lot, I don’t need to worry about drooping.
