I had surgery in 2012, but I never had a reason to write a review, so I forgot about it... Recently, while planning double-jaw surgery, I joined this community.
In July 2012, I had ptosis correction + double eyelid surgery at ㄱㄹㄷ Plastic Surgery.
I really wanted more horizontal eye length, so I wanted epicanthoplasty, but my eyes already looked like I had a failed epicanthoplasty, so I could not do itㅠㅠ So I wanted lateral canthoplasty, but I was told that if I had lateral canthoplasty, the outer corners of my eyes would droop downward... I liked my slightly upturned, chic-looking eyes, so I did not do it. Fortunately, my eyes were already somewhat long even without canthoplasty, so just doing double eyelid surgery did not look that strange.
So I only had ptosis correction and double eyelid surgery, and the double eyelid surgery was done with the natural adhesion method. They said they would put some kind of thread inside the eye and use it to create the line. The result was that one side turned out well and the other side was ruined.
Before surgery, I clearly asked for an in-out line that gets wider from the inner side toward the outer side, but the left side became a natural in-out line, while the right side was made into an in-out-in line;; What is an in-out-in line? It is a line that starts low at first, becomes highest in the middle, and then becomes extremely low again toward the end. In other words, only the middle became very bulging. Like a rainbow-shaped line, I guess;; It was really strange.
For the first week after surgery, while I was watching the swelling go down, as soon as I saw it, I thought, ah, my right eye is already ruined. People actually said my right eye turned out better, but those people just had no eye for it. After 6 months passed, everyone admitted that I was right. The line was thin at both ends, but only the very center of the eye looked like a sausage, and I seriously hated itㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ I was stressed every time I looked in the mirrorㅠㅠ
The problem with an in-out-in line is that first, it looks unattractive, but it also puts a lot of strain on the line. With an in-out line, the line gets wider toward the outer corner of the eye, so there is no strain when closing and opening the eyes. Even when the eyes are swollen from being tired, there is no strain.
But with an in-out-in line, if I overdid it even a little by staying up all night, crying the night before, or being tired, the line would come undone the next morning almost 100% of the time. Eventually, in the 4th year after surgery, it came undoneㅋㅋㅋ When the double eyelid came undone, at first the eyelid skin looked a bit droopy, as if there was extra skin left. After a few days like that, the eye line formed again very thin and low. Maybe the line bulging only in the middle had been too much strain, because this time, from beginning to end, an extremely hidden double eyelid formed on its own. (But the fact is, the one that formed on its own is much prettier than the surgeryㅋㅋ) It is so thin that it barely shows. Other people think I have monolidsㅋㅋ
On the other hand, the left eye, which was made as an in-out line, was a complete success. The line settled beautifully, so I am 100% satisfied and it is still holding up well. So now my left eye and right eye are completely uneven. I will leave the left eye as it is and only redo the right eye at another hospital. I will ask them to make it the same as my left eye.
I thought about why the left and right eyes turned out so extremely different even though they were done at the same hospital, and I do not think I can avoid mentioning this. When I had surgery, it was done under sedation anesthesia, and during surgery, while I was in a slightly hazy state, I heard a male doctor’s voice saying, “You’re doing well, you’re making the line well.” In my operating room, there was definitely one male doctor and two female nurses? nursing assistants, so I do not know who that male doctor was telling they were doing what well. I desperately hope that it was not my right eye.
These days there is a lot of talk about employed doctors and shadow doctors, and I cannot assert that I was not a victim. I still cannot forget the male voice during surgery telling someone presumed to be a female nurse that she was making the line well. But because of insufficient evidence, I cannot do anything. The hospital can simply insist that I misheard, and that would be the end of it.
And if I had suffered from a very major side effect, I would have filed a lawsuit, but since it is double eyelid surgery... Even if you call it a side effect, it is not something serious..... I paid 2 million won for the surgery, and since only one eye failed, I plan to just consider it as having lost 1 million won and get revision surgery.
As an aside, after sedation anesthesia, maybe the medication did not suit my body, because I held onto the toilet and vomited for 30 minutes. It was one of the hardest moments of my life. I had severe motion sickness and dizziness, so I suffered for about an hour. I do not know whether I am sensitive to sedative anesthetics, or whether ㄱㄹㄷ Plastic Surgery administered an excessive dose... Recently, I heard that a patient died during surgery at a plastic surgery clinic due to propofol overdose, and it gave me chills.
Next time I have double eyelid surgery, I will absolutely not do sedation anesthesia.
