I had rhinoplasty over ten years ago, and now my nasal tip has drooped a lot. I wanted to redo it a bit more dramatically, so I went for revision rhinoplasty consultations. But they said that, based on my chest X-ray, my entire costal cartilage has calcified, so they can’t use autologous costal cartilage..... Is it okay to do revision rhinoplasty with donated costal cartilage..? I heard that donated costal cartilage can be absorbed, so I was absolutely set on autologous costal cartilage, but I never imagined every single part would be so calcified that none of it could be used;;; Even just looking at reviews, most revision rhinoplasties seem to use autologous costal cartilage. Why can’t I use it? I’m so depressedㅠㅠ Is there anyone whose nasal tip hasn’t drooped and is holding up firmly with donated costal cartilage?
시하하 I don’t think it matters that much.. though I also feel like the clinic would probably tell you it can be absorbed... But then again, there are also many people who really did use donated costal cartilage and say it wasn’t absorbed;;
똥구 I had revision surgery with donated costal cartilage at NT, and since it’s costal cartilage anyway, it supports the nasal tip well, and I’m satisfied.
끼윱 They said I can’t use autologous costal cartilage either, just like the person who wrote thisㅠㅠ I hadn’t even considered donated costal cartilage at all. But they said they would build it up with 2 layers of donated costal cartilage. They said if it’s 1 layer, autologous costal cartilage costs more, but because it’s 2 layers, donated costal cartilage costs more... Is that true??
끼윱 Then should I ask the doctor to do it with autologous costal cartilage? Or change doctors??
끼윱 [@따시] I got tested at the plastic surgery clinic. They said it cost 200,000 won.. Do I have to spit that back out?ㅜㅜ
끼윱 [@따시] The CT was free... What was it again, blood test, ultrasound, X-ray, and so on; that was the testing cost.. I set the date and paid a 300,000 won deposit.. And they said they’ll refund me after deducting the testing fee.. During the consultation, I said I’d do it with autologous costal cartilage.. How would I have known it would be calcifiedㅠㅠ
끼윱 [@따시] But.. I saw another person’s post saying they had surgery with autologous costal cartilage, but it calcified inside the nose and they had it removed.. Seeing things like that, since my own costal cartilage is already calcified, I’m thinking maybe I should just use donated costal cartilage from the start.. My surgery is already on the 14th... I can’t even sleepㅜㅜ
끼윱 That’s not it.. After the tests, I asked the manager over the phone.
쪼코바나나 They said I can’t use mine either because it’s calcifiedㅠㅠ Damn I’m depressed

Nose Re-Surgery@rhino-redoApr 29 Complete removal after one month due to nasal inflammation
I developed inflammation 2 weeks after nose surgery, so I took antibiotics, and at week 4 I had the silicone removed. But there is still an inflammatory reaction, so I’m looking into complete removal ㅠㅠ The clinic says we should keep trying
Nose Re-Surgery@rhino-redoApr 29 I’m deciding between Asan and RU! Has anyone had surgery at Asan?ˀ̣
My nose had inflammation, so everything has been removed, and I think there’s still a little inflammation left. Considering that, I feel like Asan might be the right choice, but I’m so torn because I don’t know if the shape will turn out pr
Nose Re-Surgery@rhino-redoApr 29 Can contracture also occur with implant-free autologous costal cartilage?
Just as the title says…..
