I had nose surgery in 2005. At the time, the doctor asked whether I preferred a natural look or wanted it raised high, so I asked for it to be done “as naturally as possible,” and my nasal bridge was raised by about 3 mm with silicone. Back then I wasn’t thinking much because my mom really wanted me to get nose surgery, and she had already gone and paid the deposit, so I think I just went ahead and had the surgery without much fear. (I think she did her best to provide after-service because she didn’t give birth to me looking pretty. Even now, she firmly says I really wasn’t great back then.) So even now, I don’t know whether only the bridge was inserted or whether an L-shaped silicone implant was used;;
Maybe because I had no worries, I got through more than 10 years without any major side effects, but starting 2 years ago my nose began to look crooked, and these days the area connecting the glabella to the nasal bridge has started to look twisted and misaligned toward the left. When I take photos somewhere with strong sunlight, the silicone on the bridge shines completely white and shows through, and maybe I’m the only one who notices, but the area from the glabella to the nasal bridge looks like there is a straight horizontal line across it.
Even when I ask my younger sibling or friends, they just react like, “Is it maybe slightly crooked?” but it bothers me so much that I’m worrying about what I should do.
Right after I had it done, I was very satisfied, and I lived gratefully for about 10 years, (because after doing my nose, my image changed a lot, and people around me became very kind; I think that was when I first realized appearance mattered that much;) but from the moment it started bothering my eyes, I’ve been worrying about what I should do with my nose.
For no reason, now it feels like my nose is heavy, and I’m also scared I might get inflammation, so I’m thinking about removing the silicone, but my mom says I would look too different if I did that and is suggesting revision surgery, so I’m conflicted.
If anyone has had more than 10 years pass after nose surgery, or has removed silicone and had revision surgery, I’d like to ask how it was.
