I’m told that under-eye fat repositioning is a relatively simple surgery without major side effects. Still, since it is surgery that touches the face, I think you need to be cautious, and I hope this helps everyone who is 고민ing like I was 1. Deciding on surgery - After getting my second Eye Rejuran treatment for under-eye elasticity, I felt my under-eye dark circles got darker (I assume it was because I got it at an unverified dermatology clinic/from an unverified doctor, rather than because of Eye Rejuran itself) - I wondered if under-eye filler would make my dark circles better, so I had a consultation with the director at a dermatology clinic - The doctor told me that under-eye filler could slightly improve the dark circles, but that mine was not an under-eye filler case and was a fat repositioning case (I felt really grateful for this. If I hadn’t known, I probably would have gotten filler as a temporary measure, but it would not have been a fundamental solution / Thank you to the chief director of ㅇㅅㄹㅁㅅ Dermatology near Yangjae Station) 2. Online research - I started doing online research through Naver searches, YouTube reviews, and a community app - The comments on Naver cafes in particular felt like they had a lot of brokers, which put me off, and I actually excluded places that were mentioned a lot there from my consultation list (ㅇㅁㄱ, ㅅㅅㅇ, etc. They may be famous because they are good, but I excluded them because I was worried they might be factory-style *this is just my personal opinion) 3. In-person consultations - ㄴㅍㅂㄱ Clinic (single director) / 1.8 million won When I first searched, I saw a Naver blog post that seemed to have been written by the director, and I trusted it a lot. In the end, I felt like it was a blog being grown by a marketing company, but anyway, this was the first consultation I went to. They said the doctor had a long career, but I was a bit concerned that there were not many review photos of women in their 30s like me, and that the surgical method was not explained specifically (removal? repositioning? etc.). - ㅊㅂㅉ Plastic Surgery (Dr. ㅇㅅㅈ) / 2.5 million won + a (in my case, an additional 1.5 million won if dermis is used) There were many YouTuber reviews, as if they were actively doing review marketing through YouTube. When I thought, “Wow, it turned out well,” and asked the YouTuber, they said they had surgery here. During the consultation, the doctor explained the surgical method very specifically. If you have no understanding of the surgery at all, I think it would be good to go here first and listen to the explanation. They also pressed under my eyes and showed me approximately how it would look after surgery for three options: filler, under-eye fat repositioning, and lower blepharoplasty. The doctor seemed very skilled, but because of somewhat conservative diagnoses like “the surgical result cannot be predicted,” “I’m a little worried about under-eye wrinkles,” and “you’re probably not considering lower blepharoplasty yet, right?” I became anxious too and ended up hesitating about surgery. They said inserting dermis is not mandatory, but results are better if it is done. - ㅇㅅㅋ Plastic Surgery (single director) / 2.8 million won On their YouTube channel, I watched an analysis of under-eye fat repositioning cases: baggy eyelid type vs. tear trough type. I could guess what type of case I was, and it gave me trust (if you are 고민ing surgery, definitely watch this YouTube video). Also, it seemed like they specialize only in under-eye fat repositioning and do a lot of these surgeries. The actual consultation was also very meticulous and kind, and they said I was a good case for surgery. Regarding the post-op under-eye wrinkles I was worried about, the doctor confidently said things like, “They won’t form,” and “Human skin does not easily develop wrinkles just because it is stimulated like that.” I had almost made up my mind to have surgery here, but I had another consultation booked the next day, so I held off on scheduling surgery. - ㅎㅁ Plastic Surgery (single director) / 2.2 million won The director’s consultation reviews on the community app were not good. From my actual consultation, I did not feel that the doctor was rude, but it seemed like he lacked a service mindset. For example, the director at ㅇㅅㅋ Plastic Surgery above explained the surgical method and the things I was concerned about very kindly, smiling from the patient’s perspective, but the director at ㅎㅁ would firmly say yes or no about something and would not give a long explanation of why. It felt like, “Yeah, no~” People who value consideration and kindness in the other person’s tone and who get hurt easily probably would not be a good match. During the consultation, he showed me many review photos of women in a similar age group, and regarding the post-op under-eye wrinkles I was worried about, he firmly said, “They won’t form,” and clearly said I would improve if I had surgery. During the consultation, he checked whether I had gotten under-eye filler or Rejuran by pressing strongly under my eyes. It was not a kind consultation, but somehow he felt like he had the most clinical experience and would be good at surgery.. In the end, I decided to have surgery here, and the reasons I decided on surgery are below. They are nothing major.. but they were important reasons to me.  *When I went for the consultation, there were people coming out after under-eye fat repositioning surgery and people paying, and although it is not a hospital whose name is mentioned that often online, it felt like many people actually come there for surgery   *When I just walked in, the hospital had a good feel  *The doctor’s face gave me the impression that he would do surgery well (the face of the doctor who gave me the Eye Rejuran mentioned earlier felt a little unsettling, and the result was not good, so I decided to trust my intuition) 4. Surgery review - In the end, my progress is good and I am very satisfied - ㅎㅁ Plastic Surgery does not do sedation anesthesia, so the surgical process was a little mentally distressing, but the time went by quickly. They said I would bruise if I got tense, so I forced myself to keep talking and released the tension in my faceㅠㅠ - When the surgery was almost over, they told me to open my eyes, carefully checked whether I had double vision, made corrections, and finished the surgery. I think this is an advantage of local anesthesia. - Until day 4 after surgery, I was extremely swollen - I saw many reviews mentioning bleeding in the eyeball or bloody tears, but I did not have that. They say it varies by person, but I recovered without any special issues. - By 2 weeks, the major swelling had gone down enough that even my family did not notice (there may be individual differences) - The under-eye wrinkles I was worried about probably did form physically because the under-eye area was pulled, but fortunately, for now they are not especially noticeable. I think I will need to keep watching as time passes 5. Advice - If you are planning to have surgery and it is not based on a recommendation from someone you know, I hope you do online research and in-person consultations and find a hospital & doctor that fit you - When I first started doing online and in-person research, I wondered what meaning there was in getting consultations at multiple hospitals for what is ultimately the same surgery, but the more consultations I received, the more I understood the surgery and my current condition. In particular, I think I was able to learn through consultations whether I was truly a suitable case for this surgery and whether there were other alternatives. In the end, the hospital I ultimately chose was based on intuition.. anyway, it helped a lot - After deciding on surgery, I recommend looking up many post-op progress reviews as well. There may be reviews uploaded by hospitals, but if you search Naver blog posts with various keywords, there are unexpectedly many self-paid reviews. If you look at lots of data from progress to the pros and cons after surgery, it helps you decide whether or not to have surgery, and even after surgery, you can spend the recovery period more comfortably because it is all information you already know - Oh, and I didn’t know this, but negotiation is possible from the initial price quoted by plastic surgery clinics,, please keep that in mind too
