A long time ago, 20 years ago when nose surgery materials were not as varied as they are now, I had an L-shaped silicone implant placed and raised it very slightly. Other people can hardly tell I had nose surgery, and on CT they say there is a very thin silicone implant sitting there. To be honest, I only recently found out it was L-shaped. For 20 years, I had mistakenly thought only my nasal bridge had been augmented... Fortunately, I didn’t have any particular side effects or inflammation. But recently, I sustained an injury around my mouth and the impact reached the nasal tip as well, and when I sleep lying on my side, I feel like it shifts to one side. Could the silicone have displaced? I have always had a foreign-body sensation, and they say L-shaped silicone is risky, so I’ve also been thinking about getting revision surgery with autologous dermis this time, but it’s not easy to decide... Among my former colleagues, there was someone who came back with a nose made very large, almost like Pinocchio (revision surgery), and after about 6 months to a year, it reduced by half, the shape settled perfectly, and it looked pretty. (It’s been several years now, so I don’t know whether it has been absorbed.) Thinking about it now, since it was made that large and then reduced, it seems like it may have been autologous dermis... But after reading reviews here, I’m conflicted about revision surgery with autologous dermis. Sigh, I was going to just live with my old nose (though I did have the discomfort of the foreign-body sensation), but after the injury, it feels like something is wrong with my nose, so I have no choice but to fall into this big dilemma of considering revision surgery.
