Is double eyelid surgery under local anesthesia bearable?

I had light sleep anesthesia and still had injections, but I hardly slept. My body type is one where anesthesia wears off very quickly, so I felt all the pain. I don’t remember how many injections it was, but I think they also injected with my eyelid flipped over, at several spots. The pain level was similar to normal injections. The injections themselves were sharp and heavy, but I was even more scared that I might move and make a mistake, so I was shaking, even though my body didn’t move under anesthesia. I think the most painful part during double-eyelid surgery was the pulling of the eyelid.

A friend had partial anesthesia and said they cried uncontrollably because it hurt so much, saying they wanted to land a punch on the doctor’s face. Unless the person can truly tolerate severe pain, partial anesthesia seems like it would be very painful.

It was really, really painful. Two weeks ago I had partial anesthesia for full-incision + upper eyelid crease + canthal/eye-shape correction + fat reduction, 4SET (I chose partial anesthesia because I was scared of ghost surgery, and I went for surgery alone). It was the worst pain I’ve ever had in my life, and it was also my first surgery. My personality is that I usually tolerate pain well. I’ve even had four teeth extracted for orthodontic treatment, and generally I can bear pain well. The anesthetic injection itself was tolerable, but in the eye-shape correction part, I think the anesthesia didn’t reach there, so it felt like the raw eyelid skin was being flipped and peeled. It was so painful that I didn’t even make a sound, cried three times, and almost sobbed uncontrollably, but because I was in the middle of surgery I couldn’t cry out, only tears came from my eyes with a muffled “too-reuk.” It was painful enough that I felt like running out of the operating room, and I could hear my heartbeat getting faster and faster in my ears. Even though it hurt, I still feel I gained trust from it, so I don’t regret it. If you do partial anesthesia, you really have to go in with a very firm mind. The order of procedures I felt pain in was: Blepharoplasty (incisional) >>>> lip filler >>> forehead filler >> blepharoplasty suture removal

I had mine done a month ago and it was okay...! I was put on sedation and then woke up and switched to local anesthesia, and I was still a bit dazed, so I kept small talk with the doctor. I’ve had sleep anesthesia many times, and I always wake up fine. If arousal is hard, tell the anesthesia team in advance beforehand!

They’ll have to flip the eyelid and inject... It’s going to be really painful, I think.

During my double-eyelid surgery, part of the anesthesia was coming off, but it was still manageable ㅋㅋㅋㅋ I saw something red and yellow, and later I realized it was my own tissue/flesh. I didn’t realize then because I was semi-conscious.

Partial anesthesia is really painful ㅠㅠㅠㅠ But if you can bear it during the injections, after that you can just lie down comfortably.

I had three shots on my eyelid and two shots with the eyelid flipped, but it was just a short sting and didn’t hurt at all! It felt like being pinched by a fingernail?!
