By now everything has healed and the results seem pretty good, so I thought I’d post a review! This is my second cosmetic procedure, and I’m very conservative. I really do try not to go under the knife unless it’s absolutely necessary! Honestly, I didn’t even know lower eyelid fat repositioning was a thing, but a close friend recommended it, so I looked into it and went ahead with it. My facial image and overall impression barely changed, but it feels like the face that only showed up at certain angles or under good lighting is now there 24/7. So I’m satisfied! I’ll also share my decision criteria and recovery process as best I can to help everyone. I never read recommendation posts or reviews at all. Especially post-op photos, where makeup, retouching, and things like that are obviously added on purpose, felt too obvious, and I didn’t want to waste time searching initial consonants one by one to weed out brokers... so I decided to rely on data. So I did a ton of research within this community’s plastic surgery board. Whether the surgeon had board certification in plastic surgery, how long it had been since obtaining the certification, whether there was CCTV, whether an anesthesiologist was on site, whether it was a one-doctor clinic (for eyes, Dr. Moon Yoo-jin handled everything alone, so I counted it as a one-doctor clinic), whether it specialized in eye surgery (if its share of nose surgery was as high as eye surgery, I ruled it out), and whether the clinic had moved around a lot... Once I filtered by those criteria, there really weren’t many left. I then visited them in person and, after a lot of legwork, ultimately chose Dm Plastic Surgery. The criteria I used were: 1. Communication with the doctor/clinic would be good Being kind and gentle is different from being good at communication, but I think this may vary by person. Even if I had a lot of questions, the doctor answered everything kindly and seemed prepared to do so, and in actual consultations he took plenty of time and explained things well. You know how there’s that kind of doctor who feels like a nice private-clinic doctor nearby in the neighborhood? The kind that’s convenient to have as a regular when you visit often and need help when you’re sick... it felt very close to that. 2. Promotion would not be excessive Plastic surgery clinics are in a fiercely competitive world, so I think basic promotion, YouTube, blogs, and so on are all a given. But I do think promotion and marketing shouldn’t be excessive! What really matters is whether the surgery is done safely and skillfully. If they focus too much on other things, like money-making, then they neglect the most important purpose, right? In that sense, it was moderate. 3. There would be no unreasonable pressure For reference, I’m the type who reads every page of a several-dozen-page consent form in English and signs only after checking it line by line lol I looked carefully, and it was sensible, with nothing intentionally unfavorable to the patient or likely to cause problems later. If you want to view the CCTV, you can also sign a consent form for that. When I got home and added up all my impressions (= life big data..), everything was consistent, so I felt I could trust it. But since this wasn’t double-eyelid revision surgery or double eyelid surgery, I didn’t separately consider aesthetics. As you can see from the pre-op photos My tear troughs were deeply hollow and the under-eyes were so sunken they looked almost like those of a middle-aged woman (but I still just lived cheerfully without thinking much of it full of confidence), so I described it in a pretty mechanical way: I just wanted that area pushed back toward the tear trough. I asked them to fill in the hollowness. I’ll also share the surgery course. They scheduled me as the first surgery early in the morning. When I arrived, there were only one or two other patients. I put on the patient gown and they drew a simple surgical line under my eyes (I was very convinced by the line... yes, this part is puffy, so flattening it like that makes sense), then I went in and lay down, and the doctor said, “You’re not nervous at all.” calm heart rate I felt a little sleepy, and then I said, “Ah, now I can feel it,” but the next moment I was already lying in the recovery room. They said it would take about 40 minutes, but it took exactly 30 minutes... Right after I opened my eyes, my vision was a little uneven, so the ceiling line looked tilted. The bed was warm and I felt dazed~, so I wanted to keep sleeping, but they said I couldn’t, so... I mumbled all sorts of nonsense to regain my memory, snapped out of it, and went home. From my personal experience, I could take the bus home alone... but I couldn’t take the subway right after, because it was hard to look downward and stairs were difficult. One thing I’m sure about is that my eye muscles moved normally right after surgery, just like before! As soon as I came out, I slowly tried moving them up, down, left, and right, and there was no difference at all, they were totally fine. If by any chance one side doesn’t move or feels strange, I’d recommend going to the hospital urgently. For reference, the simple uneven vision improves within 2 to 3 hours. What I especially liked! 1. The surgery went well, so it didn’t hurt As the doctor said, pink tears did come out of my eyes for about two days, but other than that it didn’t hurt at all! Zero pain. After two days, there was no more bleeding, and since I only took the medicines I was told to take, I didn’t need any extra painkillers. When I checked after three days, there was almost no bruising... that was the third photo, and even though my skin is on the thin side, I didn’t get blue bruises, only yellow bruises. I work from home, so I had surgery on the weekend and had to go back to work immediately without taking any leave, so this was really great. The satisfaction you feel when you realize you really had a safe, successful surgery is beyond words... the doctor is truly skilled... The biggest problem in cosmetic surgery is surgical side effects, right? If the result isn’t to your liking, you can wait and even have revision surgery, but if a complication happens Of course... surgery is surgery, so your body instinctively sends the feeling of “Be careful... don’t do anything stupid....” I was so scared I absolutely didn’t sneeze or yawn for a whole month. 2. Communication was good Honestly, the condition changes every day, so I was worried... I asked questions whenever I thought of them on KakaoTalk, and the replies came quickly and were kind. There wasn’t a big difference in how kind they were before surgery when I made inquiries. Even during follow-up visits, the doctor personally came out each time to check my condition and answered as many questions as I wanted. Like I wrote above, it felt like going to a neighborhood clinic, getting medicine prescribed, and checking whether you were healing... it was just really consistently trustworthy. Now, about a month later... Unless it’s a bright light shining straight from the top of my head, my under-eyes look smooth from pretty much any angle! Whether it’s sunny, cloudy, or under indoor lighting! It’s exactly my face as it is, but on one of my especially pretty days! I really’m glad I did it:) At first I worried that because the tear troughs weren’t filled quite as much as I expected, I might end up with a diagonal line under my eyes, but my boyfriend said, “I can guarantee it, it really looks better. That line was always there even back then,” and showed me photos from when we used to date... That was when I realized... I had been a middle-aged woman after all... I’d just been restored back to my original age..... At this point, doctor, isn’t this basically eye money.... Changes after lower eyelid fat repositioning + unexpected points It turned out mostly close to what I wanted, but there were also changes and unexpected parts! Still, I guess that can’t be helped. 1. Existing wrinkles/veins are visible I think this is a natural part of the process as the puffiness is flattened! If they were already there, they’ll become a little more visible. 2. A subtle sensation near the under-eye area Usually people say to be careful for up to a month, right? Even if there’s no pain, a subtle sensation remains. Normally I can’t really feel it, but if I’m tired or have used my eyes a lot that day... the area below my eyes and around my cheekbones feels stiff and a little tingly. And when I yawn, the muscles under my eyes twitch. Seeing this, I guess the surgical site healing and returning 100% to the previous state are not exactly the same thing. I still haven’t dared to do yoga downward dog or anything like that.. I think I should be more careful. 3. Improvement in asymmetrical eyes?!? An unexpected win(?!) In the last photo, I was looking straight ahead as usual... and my eyes looked almost the same size. My right eye was originally a bit asymmetrical, and the doctor mentioned that too... but when I looked in the mirror, it seemed to have improved. It was nice, but I didn’t know why, so I looked it up, and there was something saying that because the fat under the eyes had been compressed and then flattened out to support the area, it also affected the area above the eyes... Anyway, yes;;; the mystery of the human body. 4. Cute lower eyelid fat?!? It feels like I might be getting some cute lower eyelid fat now(?!) and I’m kind of excited lol I had spent my whole life unable to really feel any lower eyelid fat because of the under-eye fat. According to my friend, since it’s only been one month, there’s still some minor swelling left, but I’d really like to have some cute under-eye fat please. 5. Faint diagonal line under the eyes As I wrote above, it appeared very slightly as the under-eye area was flattened (but my boyfriend says it was always about like that, so it may look different to other people). I was worried it might get worse, but it hasn’t, and it doesn’t show much in daily life, so I’m planning to just live with it. Maybe it’s because flattening the fat changed the height difference under the eyes, but if it stays like this, I think it’ll be fine. The only worry left is whether this will recur... especially on the left, since there was a lot of under-eye fat there.. I’ll think about that when the time comes, and for now I’m just going to enjoy today, when I’ve become prettier I really summarized everything I experienced over more than a month all at once Everyone thinking about lower eyelid fat repositioning, please have the surgery safely and get prettier!
