I originally had a slightly wide distance between my eyes and Mongolian folds, so I wanted epicanthoplasty. At one place I went to for a consultation, they said that if I had epicanthoplasty, the scar might look too noticeable because the front line of my double eyelid was low, so they told me it would be better not to do it. I thought maybe another clinic might be able to do it, so I searched through a community to see if there was a good clinic. While reading posts here from people who had only epicanthoplasty, I found out about this clinic. First, when I looked at the clinic’s website, it really seemed like they did not do advertising. They did not even have before-and-after surgery photos posted. It only showed the doctor’s background and what direction the director pursues in plastic surgery. I also read the doctor’s blog posts, and I could see that he consistently pursues plastic surgery that improves things naturally, tailored only to that individual. It said that it is better to operate cautiously and, if the patient feels it is insufficient, do it once more later, because if excessive surgery is done from the beginning, restoring body parts that have been cut away, such as skin tissue, is impossible or extremely difficult. I agreed with that, so I liked the conservative approach and went for a consultation. When I walked in, the interior was not in the current trendy style, so I instinctively felt that they must have been in the same location for quite some time. I read the interview paper displayed there, and it seemed like the doctor had been at a university hospital for 10 years and then opened a private clinic in 2007. So that means they had been in one place for almost 14 years. That made me trust them a bit more. The clinic really does not seem to do advertising or anything like that, and I don’t know if it is a clinic only known to people who know, but when I went there, I never ran into anyone else. (Before going in for the first consultation, there were so few people that I was a little half-convinced and half-doubtful. I wondered how this clinic was being maintained when it was located less than a minute from the subway entrance, while not advertising at all... It was something I became curious about.) During the consultation, unlike the opinion from the previous clinic, he said that if it was done as a subtle canthal widening, the scar would not be very visible, so I thought it was good that I came for the consultation. The before-and-after photos he showed were of people who had already had epicanthoplasty at other clinics, had it done too excessively, and then had the epicanthoplasty closed again, but it ended up being closed too much, so they came here and had a subtle canthal widening again. He lifted my bangs and took photos with a camera, then compared and showed me before-and-after photos of someone who had eyes similar to mine. Since I thought that if he specialized in reconstruction, his skill and knowledge would be good, I paid the deposit on the day of the consultation and had surgery two weeks later. In my case, I think the method was to make a very small incision at the front of the eye, about 0.5 to 1 mm, and slightly weaken(?) the lower eye muscle inside. He said that would make the front of the eye open up. I am not someone who studied this professionally, so I am not sure if I understood it perfectly. Still, whether during the consultation or during the surgery, if there was something I did not know and asked about, he answered kindly. At first, I thought that 1.5 million won might be somewhat expensive for a first surgery when I was only doing epicanthoplasty, but after having the surgery, the price made sense. Without sedation anesthesia, I lay down under local anesthesia, and he very delicately and minutely opened the inner corners little by little, then had me sit up and showed me the mirror. He repeated that a few more times. And during surgery, when he was operating, my eyes were closed, and when he checked whether it was opened properly, I opened my eyes and looked at the doctor while he kept checking whether it was done properly. That process really made me think... ah, at least this amount of money does not feel wasted. My surgery was at 2, so I arrived around 1:45 and left around 3:45. Since it was epicanthoplasty, I thought it would be over in 30 minutes to an hour, but applying anesthetic ointment and waiting, having one more consultation, designing the shape before surgery, and continuously checking during surgery made two hours go by quickly. It has not been long since the surgery yet, so the surgical area has not stabilized (= the final shape planned by the director has not come out), so I will not upload photos. There is so little information about this clinic, so I hope this helps people who are wondering about it, and if you are only considering epicanthoplasty, I think it would be good to go for a consultation at least once.
