Hello. In June 2013, I had square jaw surgery and quick cheekbone surgery. After the surgery, my right cheekbone hurt unusually badly, but the hospital kept only telling me to wait and see. Around 2015, the hospital where I had the surgery near Sinsa Station disappeared. My cheekbones are asymmetric, with the right side protruding more. Anyone can see that the right cheekbone sticks out more than before the cheekbone surgery. Of course, sagging cheeks are visible too. A gap also formed on the left side, so when I look at my face under light, it is not smooth and looks bumpy. For the square jaw surgery, a secondary angle formed at the chin tip. I think they may have touched a nerve incorrectly under my left jaw. My gums and flesh feel tingling and prickly. When I wake up in the morning and open my mouth, there is a small clicking sound from my right jaw, so I am anxious whether it is because of a temporomandibular joint problem or because the surgery was done wrong. As the swelling goes down, the asymmetry looks much worse. The asymmetry looks about the width of one finger.
More than anything, it took me too long to acknowledge that these were surgical side effects. I kept thinking, surely not me, surely not me, but I was 100 percent a side-effect case too. Other people say just live with it, just live with it, but because it is my own face, I can see it better, and every single day, every time I look in the mirror, I feel devastated. When I see other people whose facial contouring turned out well, I wonder why this had to happen to me. Recently, even when washing my face, I avoid looking in the mirror.
I had square jaw surgery because it was something I had thought about for a long time. But with the cheekbone surgery, it was also my fault for deciding without looking into it properly. When I heard that if I did square jaw surgery, my cheekbones could look relatively wider, I think I decided too easily.
Yesterday, I spent a long time looking into the doctor who operated on me, and while searching posts from before the time of my surgery, I saw a comment saying that he was an anesthesiologist and did not perform surgery. But he is the person who performed my surgery. I got chills. In the middle of that, I also saw talk that they used a salaried doctor.
I am thinking about revision surgery around May or June this year. I thought a lot about whether to do it or not, but I feel like I will be stressed like this for the rest of my life. But thinking about going around to hospitals again for consultations, being suspicious, and worrying about whether revision surgery can succeed is also stressful.
For those thinking about surgery, I hope you really think and think again until the moment before you lie down on the operating table. Even if you have already lain down on the operating table, if you feel this is not right, I hope you avoid doing it if possible, even if you lose your reservation deposit. Get many consultations, and more consultations, read many reviews, and then decide on surgery.
Facial contouring surgery handles bone, so it is truly dangerous, and the aftereffects later can be significant. If I could go back, I would not do cheekbone surgery, and whether it took 20 or 30 consultations, I would do more legwork, look into it properly, and decide on a hospital.
I am thinking about revision surgery, so those who succeeded with revision surgery, please, please share your hospitals. If you send me a private message, I would really, truly, truly be even more grateful. If you could send photos too, I would be even more grateful.
This is my first time sharing my experience in detail like this on a cafe or homepage. I hope fewer victims like me appear after reading my post, and I hope you think one more time about surgery.
Thank you for reading this long post.
