7-Year Review of Non-Extraction Orthodontic Treatment

1. First, my tooth alignment didn’t change dramatically, but one front tooth was slightly crooked, so I got orthodontic treatment 2. I also wanted to improve protrusive mouth, but after hearing that healthy teeth would need to be extracted, I didn’t want that, so I just got orthodontic treatment as is, and it took 1 year to finish 3. Overall review - Since I definitely did not have extractions, there was no effect at all of the mouth moving inward - If your tooth alignment isn’t very bad, it seems true that there’s no need to do it. My gums actually receded - I don’t wear a separate orthodontic retainer when sleeping, but there hasn’t been any problem - It is nice that my teeth look aligned in photos, but I think that’s all.. Rather, the fixed retainer attached behind my teeth catches on food every time I eat - At least one advantage: tartar doesn’t build up easily between my teeth, and food doesn’t get stuck easily Conclusion: If it’s not very severe, it doesn’t seem necessary to do it
