I had cheekbone surgery yesterday, and I am posting this hoping my story helps someone. I am in my mid-20s, and I had wanted cheekbone surgery since middle school. My personality is that if there is something I want to do, I have to do it no matter what.... so I ended up having the surgery. Actually, I had booked surgery at this hospital 2 years ago, but canceled it for health reasons, and after managing my condition well again and thanks to a long holiday, I finally had the surgery this time! ▶ Consultation with the doctor and the coordinator You get pre-op counseling, and the doctor was not especially warm, but answered questions and focused more on explaining the surgery process? principles? rather than design, and said something like, if you do go through with surgery, this is about how much can be shaved. The coordinator, as anyone who has been there would know, was very kind! It felt reassuring. ▶ Pre-op tests Before surgery, they drew blood, and I also had basic tests at a nearby internal medicine clinic. After confirming the results and finding no issues, they proceeded with surgery. ▶ Surgery day (very nervous) Of course you read all the reviews... the thing I worried about most was what if I never woke up from general anesthesia, and how much it would hurt (In one review I saw it described as the pain of being crushed by a truck,, and I was really, really, really tense and scared.) I arrived at the hospital at 9:30 a.m., changed clothes, confirmed the doctor's design (I showed a few photos at that point too), asked a few questions, then entered the operating room at 10:30 a.m., got anesthesia, and passed out,,(at that time only the anesthesiologist and nurses were there) I think the surgery started at 11 a.m. and I went into the recovery room at 12:30 p.m. (According to my guardian, I entered the recovery room awake, but I was half-dazed, so I only really came to around 12:50???) At 1 p.m. I desperately wanted water and kept calling the nurse, but absolutely no way They said I could drink 4 hours after waking up, so I drank water 4 hours later. At 5:30 p.m. I was discharged the same day without being admitted! ▶ Pain Just like the reviews said, my throat hurts a lot. It still hurts even as I write this It feels like a really bad throat cold. Neither on the day of surgery nor now did I have phlegm, but I did have throat pain + a bit of nosebleed? In the end, my current pain is throat pain + pain when opening my mouth + pain when pressing lightly on the surgical area. And maybe because I only had contouring type 1, I do not know, but it was not so painful that I could not sleep. To compare it to something, it felt like I had 10 cavities??? So if someone asks, can you do contouring again? I would say yes,, but I think the pain depends on the person. The truck-crushed-by-a-truck level pain I saw in that review was not at all my experience (personally, I do not feel pain much even with things other people say are painful... so looking at it that way, pain really does seem highly individual.) ▶ Design Honestly, it is only day 2, so it is not like wow~ or anything, and I only did the cheekbones, so I did not have huge expectations. But when the compression was slightly loosened..... it is swollen now, but the contours definitely became cleaner. Still, it is only day 2, so I think I need to keep watching. I am not posting this with the intent of saying everyone must get contouring, but I wanted to help even a little bit the people like me who really want contouring and are planning to get it. **But I do think it is good to look carefully at things like side effects and decide cautiously** The photo is the surgery verification shot. After some time, I will upload before-and-after photos sometime between 3 and 6 months!
