■ Before surgery I decided to have surgery because of uneven eyes, drooping eyelids, and epicanthal fold issues. After consultations at five places, I chose this one. They didn’t recommend unnecessary procedures, and I liked that I could feel they were trying to consult kindly and sincerely. I asked them to set the line as low as possible, like an inner double eyelid.
■ For one month after surgery Maybe because the line was low, the swelling the day after surgery wasn’t as bad as I expected. I had light bruising in about two spots, and it disappeared by week 2. In week 3, my eyelashes fell out a lot, and the fallen lashes kept sticking right onto the epicanthoplasty area, so I had a hard time removing them They said the epicanthoplasty scar stands out the most around week 4, and just like that, it slowly started bothering me. I went in for a follow-up and got a scar injection.
■ 2 months after surgery When I went for a follow-up, they said it seemed I didn’t need an injection this time. Milia developed in the epicanthoplasty area, so I asked about it, and they explained that milia on the surgical site usually don’t go away naturally, then removed them for me.
■ 3 months after surgery The shape of my eyes became almost the same as what I discussed during the pre-surgery consultation. I went on a trip, and I was really touched because my eyes didn’t look uneven in photos I was worried because I’d heard that epicanthoplasty can make the eyes dry, but that part doesn’t seem very different from before. But one downside is that winter wind feels much more stinging.. I came to understand why epicanthal folds exist
