I’m usually not the type to write reviews, but I was disappointed that I couldn’t use proper review photos after my Wonder canthoplasty, so this time I took photos too! 1. Surgery date 1.24 (Fri), right before the Lunar New Year holiday I had the stitches removed on 1.31 (Fri), at the 1-week mark, and now it’s been 2 weeks 2. Consultation During my Wonder canthoplasty, there had been a comment that the shape of my Mongolian fold was strange, so I skipped the consultation with the consultant and went straight to the doctor’s consultation Maybe the look the doctor and I were each going for was a little different During the consultation, it felt like we were both getting frustrated with each other and things were a bit off but I just trusted him and went ahead.. In conclusion, it’s not the inner corners of the eyes I wanted, the ones I always used to make with Photoshop, but I don’t think my current inner corners are bad either 3. Reason for choosing the clinic I had Wonder canthoplasty there before, and of course it all returned..;; but the stitches were really neat, they had made it pointy, and I didn’t have any other scars or side effects.. so I thought epicanthoplasty wouldn’t close back up, and trusted them 4. Surgery I had one consultation with the doctor and went straight into surgery It was done under local anesthesia, and it hurt a little more than the Wonder canthoplasty; Still, it was bearable, and the surgery process was more comfortable than Wonder canthoplasty. You just close your eyes and they take care of it.. They showed me midway, and it had opened up really refreshingly and my eyes looked so much bigger that I was surprised After surgery, I iced it for about 5 minutes and went home, super fast As expected, the stitches were neat, and even now at week 2, aside from redness, there are no surgical scars or stitch marks For bruising, I had a black bruise on the double-eyelid line of my left eye + yellow bruises under both eyes, and the black bruise on the double-eyelid line still remains a little, while the yellow bruises are all gone. There was no swelling 5. Thoughts on epicanthoplasty When I looked in a hand mirror, I thought, my eyes look better than expected with this refreshingly opened look? It’s okay? But then I saw a full-body shot in the dressing room and was shocked It looked so strange;;;; I thought it was ruined. It was too excessive.. scary, and my impression seemed to have changed too much.. I looked like Wangnuni from the webtoon Strangers from Hell Even until the stitches were removed, it felt too much.. I told people absolutely not to do it, and just kept DuoDERM on the surgical areas After removing the stitches, my eyes looked less close-set and my impression got a bit better, but still.. it looked strange. Maybe because it felt unfamiliar, but I looked masculine And I looked like I had that obvious plastic-surgery face Still, before surgery, people used to mention Kan Mi-youn and Yoon Bomi I regretted it so, so much and almost lost my mind.. But by week 2, it did become more natural! As the redness at the inner corners started to fade, my eyes looked a little less close-set I saw hope.. So I do think it’ll get better if I wait! If you only look at the eyes, they’re pretty So far I’ve just been bare-faced, but I feel like I might like it with full makeup.. When I put on double-eyelid tape to make an outline crease, it looked a bit better. Since I opened up the inner corners, I guess a more glamorous line suits me.. It’s only week 2, so I’m going to wait more.. But it still feels unfamiliar and excessive.. hoping I get used to it.. 6. Recommend epicanthoplasty? Unless your eyes are really extremely far apart, I don’t recommend it I kept whining that I wanted it natural and didn’t want my impression to change, so they didn’t open it up much either (would it even be 1 mm total on both sides..), but my impression changed dramatically So if it’s not absolutely necessary and you’re doing it just because you feel something is lacking, I don’t recommend it It might be fine if you only look at the eyes, but harmony with the overall face is essential..
