Due to a past accident, my nasal bone was fractured, and my septum became deviated, so my nose was completely blocked. This condition continued for more than 10 years, making it hard to breathe, and I was also bothered by the shape of my nose, so I decided I needed surgery before it got any later. In the process of correcting the septum, I also wanted to straighten out the crooked nasal bridge. Cosmetically, because I was hit from the right side at the time of the accident, my nasal tip shifted to the left, and because of this, I developed a complex that the nose looked collapsed and low on the left side of my face. I went to several hospitals for consultations, and I decided that the consultation with Director Kim Jae-yoon, the head doctor at Lowell Plastic Surgery, was the most suitable for resolving my concerns, so I scheduled the surgery right away on the day of the consultation. Since my nose had collapsed, I needed to use donated costal cartilage or autologous costal cartilage, but I didn’t particularly want to go as far as using autologous costal cartilage, so I had the surgery with donated costal cartilage! 1. What I wanted first was to resolve the rhinitis caused by the accident so I could breathe, and cosmetic improvement was the next issue, but other hospitals focused their consultations on aesthetics and recommended implants and such. 2. Changes after surgery I had experience with reconstruction surgery in the past, and at that time the pain was so severe that I was afraid of nose surgery itself, but this surgery did not hurt at all, and there was no postoperative pain either. 4. Recovery process after surgery The swelling is still going down after surgery, but the center of my nose has come to the middle, and the blocked nasal airway has opened to some extent, so I’m gradually practicing breathing.
