Hello A close younger friend of mine is considering nose surgery this time, so I met up with them, went around to consultations together to see what rhinoplasty is like these days, and came back to this community too. I had only been receiving help while looking around, so I’m writing this to help others. I’m timid, so I might take the post down again ㅠㅠ For now, I’ll write it haha
I had surgery in 2011. My nose condition was that the bones beside the center of my nose were very wide, my nasal bridge and nasal tip were low, and I had a deviated nose, hump nose, and drooping arrow-shaped nose. I don’t remember everything clearly, but it was ear cartilage + Silitex + nasal septum + osteotomy. I only found out this time that Gore-Tex doesn’t seem to be used much these days ㅠㅠ My nose is still slightly crooked, the right nasal ala is spread out, and it is still an arrow-shaped nose. I want to have revision surgery in a trendy shape these days, but it looks natural and I have no side effects, so I’m holding back and living with it while suppressing the impulse.
I visited the plastic surgery clinic where I had mine done with an acquaintance after 7 years, and I was shocked. It was still exactly the same as 7 years ago (broadcast appearance photos, interior, etc.), so it brought back nostalgia. We had a consultation appointment at 2, but they said the director had suddenly gone to a seminar and would be back at 3. It was only at 4 that we finally had the consultation with the director. I was so exhausted. As soon as we entered the director’s office, he looked at the two of us and said, “Who’s getting it done?” so I pointed to my acquaintance. Then he said to me, “You should get it done too, you have an arrow-shaped nose,” so I was startled and said, “Doctor, you made it this way!” The director naturally said to me, “You need revision surgery. It’s an arrow-shaped nose.” Another thing that stunned me was this: I’m a native Korean, but because of work I have many close Chinese friends. My acquaintance is Chinese, and after looking at the insurance details on the chart, he said, “Oh my, you’re Chinese and you even signed up for insurance?” in a completely sarcastic way. On top of that, when he showed reference photos, they were exactly the same photos he had shown 7 years ago. [How can he tell me to get revision surgery even though he was the one who did it, and how can even the photos be the same?] Even before that, I was already hesitating because they recommended rhinitis surgery and said I could later get 4 million won reimbursed through private insurance: rhinitis 5 million + nose surgery 2.5 million, and their recommendation method was different from other clinics. But after the director’s consultation, I completely turned away. I don’t know if the director changed or if I was naive back then, but it was a really unpleasant consultation.
I’m uploading the shape for reference, but I truly, really do not recommend it.
I went to consultations at 6 places total, split over two days with 3 places each: ㄹㅇㅈ, 4ㅇ31ㅇ, ㅅㄷㄹㄹ, ㅇㄴ, ㄱㄹㅎ, and the place I wrote about here. I still haven’t decided. I think I’ll have to go to more places, so I’m diligently looking through this community, but it’s difficult.
