Review of a second consultation at ㅊㄷㅊ and my first consultation at ㅍㄹㅅ ENT For my first round of in-person consultations, I focused on functional rhinoplasty consultations and visited ㅈㅇㅈ (Dr.), ㅋㅂㅈ, and ㅊㄷㅊ. I already had septoplasty about 10 years ago, my septum has become very weak, and since a perforation was seen on CT, I came to the conclusion that the septum could not be used as the main material, so if I wanted a surgery without an implant, I would need donor rib cartilage or autologous costal cartilage. At ㅈㅇㅈ and ㅊㄷㅊ, they said donor rib cartilage or autologous costal cartilage would be necessary no matter what. Only at ㅋㅂㅈ did they say that because my original nose was already pretty (not objectively extremely pretty, just not awkward-looking) and I did not seem to be looking for a major cosmetic change, they could not recommend using autologous costal cartilage as the material for my first surgery, and instead suggested a closed procedure using ear cartilage as support. But there would be a risk of saddle nose, and if that happened I would need revision surgery using autologous costal cartilage, which would then be classified as cosmetic surgery plus revision surgery, making the cost suddenly much higher... So I concluded that I should use donor rib cartilage or autologous costal cartilage from the start for safety, and personally I did not want to use donor rib cartilage, so I decided on autologous costal cartilage. When I first went around comparing clinics, I was mostly thinking I might only do functional rhinoplasty, but since I would be using autologous costal cartilage anyway, and even functional rhinoplasty would require an open approach with a scar on the columella, I settled on doing cosmetic rhinoplasty as well in a natural style while I was at it. Of the three doctors, the place I liked most for the consultation was ㅊㄷㅊ.. But the doctor seemed extremely busy + it was my first consultation, so I had not prepared properly and felt I was not able to have as good a consultation as I wanted, so I booked another consultation. So today I had the second consultation, but once again the doctor seemed very busy Still, since it was my second consultation, I was glad I could ask many more questions than last time. What I found disappointing was that last time they did not mention that valve surgery would be needed, but at the second consultation they said, "We missed it last time, but after checking the CT again this time, it looks like valve correction is also needed." If you put it negatively, it means the doctor is so busy that some things may get missed during consultation, but if you put it positively, it also means that even at a second consultation, the doctor carefully reviews the CT again. Hmm... this part is my fault, but I had not thought enough about the cosmetic side before going, so when the doctor made a Photoshop image of how my nose would look from the side after surgery at the end of the consultation, I did not like it, but I could not clearly explain exactly what I did not like and why. When I looked at the before-and-after photos from ㅂㅂㅋ, they looked pretty, but when I imagined them on my own face, they just did not seem pretty? So I ended the consultation with a little disappointment still left. --- Then I went to ㅍㄹㅅ ENT, and the reason I consulted there was because, after looking it up a bit, this place was known for septal deviation surgery. To be honest, I did not think much of it, but my mother always came with me to consultations, and since she suggested we try here, I went. Hmm... the consultation was first done by the consultation manager, and right from the start they explained that all the named celebrities shown in the photos here had surgery there. They even showed before-and-after photos of one celebrity, and I even thought, "Huh, isn't that a bit of a problem? The celebrity probably did not consent to showing their before-and-after photos..." On top of that, I did not want to become pretty like a celebrity; I just wanted my nose to look a little nicer than it already did, so I felt the consultation direction did not match me very well when I met with the doctor. But... the twist here was that when I actually consulted with the doctor, I thought, "Oh, I want to have surgery here." Thinking about why I felt that way, it was because: 1. I liked the doctor-created virtual result of my nose that they showed me (looking at it made me realize why I did not like the Photoshop image from ㅊㄷㅊ) 2. They had already picked up on my concerns before I even said them 3. They said they were acquainted with the doctor who operated on me about 10 years ago I ended up making a small deposit almost as if I were under some spell, but after thinking calmly again, the things that bothered me were: 1. All the photos shown by the consultation manager had a very flashy feel... 2. I wanted a surgery without implants and did not want to touch the nasal bridge, but the manager kept casually mentioning artificial dermis, and the doctor kept saying that autologous costal cartilage could also be used for the nasal bridge... 3. They first suggested correcting issues that were not a major complex for me, like nostril asymmetry and the nasolabial angle (honestly, it would be nice if they were corrected, but I was uneasy about the number of procedures increasing + I wondered whether they would really be corrected) 3. There are very few post-procedure reviews on ㅂㅂㅋ 4. And when I searched for premium reviews of this hospital on this community to write this post, the ratings were very low... In conclusion, the doctor at ㅊㄷㅊ conducts consultations in a way that reflects what the patient wants as much as possible and speaks very conservatively about what can be done and what should not be expected, whereas the doctor at ㅍㄹㅅ has a very distinct personal style and gives the impression that everything can definitely be done... What I want to say to anyone considering ㅊㄷㅊ or ㅍㄹㅅ ENT is: If you are going to have surgery at ㅊㄷㅊ, study very thoroughly what nose shape you want, even if you have to visit other hospitals to do it. If you like a flashy nose like a celebrity, consider ㅍㄹㅅ. After visiting both places and looking through the premium reviews, I think I would bring the virtual result from ㅍㄹㅅ back to ㅊㄷㅊ and ask, "Could my nose be made like this?"
