My eyes were already on the horizontally wide side, so people around me strongly told me not to do it. So I thought about it for years, but in the end I wanted it so badly that I just went ahead and did it lol hehe The things I worried about before surgery were: 1. My eyes were not small to begin with, so if I also got lower lateral canthoplasty, would my eyes look too intense? 2. What if the visible white part increased and made me look like I had sanpaku eyes? 3. What if it was so obvious that anyone could tell I had canthoplasty done But then, what if I made it natural and the before-and-after difference was barely noticeable? Those were my worries. But once I started overthinking too much, I was like, ah whatever, let’s just get the surgery, so I narrowed it down to 3 places through online research, looked at review photos, and chose the place whose shape I liked the most. Since I live outside Seoul, it was annoying to go up just for a consultation and come back, so without an in-person consultation, I sent photos of my face by text, told them the surgery I wanted, and got a rough estimate. Then I scheduled the surgery date, went there on time, and they guided me to a private room and told me to change clothes. After changing, they told me to sit and wait, but I waited for a whole hour;;; I was tired during that time so I fell asleep, and when I opened my eyes an hour had passed It wasn’t because there was a surgery before me; they said they were late because the conversation with a consultation client had run long. I was kind of annoyed, but since I had such a good nap for the first time in a while, I became more forgiving hehe;; I had a brief consultation with the consultant, and then a brief consultation with the director too. They just lightly pulled down the outer corner of my eye with a cotton swab and said, “We’ll do it like this~” and that was it. Maybe because I had already decided to have surgery without an in-person consultation, there wasn’t a detailed explanation, so I felt anxious. After the consultation, I proceeded with payment. On the phone, I’m sure they had said it included VAT (there was no mention at all of VAT being separate), but when the VAT cost also came up, I asked about it, and they said if I withdrew cash, there would be no VAT. I got the feeling that I probably wouldn’t visit this clinic again. After payment, I went back into the hospital room and waited. The surgery was: They put me to sleep with sedation anesthesia, then did local anesthesia around the eyes, then woke me up from the sedation and performed the surgery while I was conscious. They kept telling me to open my eyes, but they wouldn’t open well. It felt like my eyeballs were being pulled, there was a burning smell, and it was an unfamiliar pain I had never felt before, so it was really, really scary and painful (of course I was anesthetized, but still..) Ugh..!! Ugh!! Those sounds just came out on their own lolololol, but the nurse told me not to make sounds I think I was under sedation for about 30 minutes? and after waking up, the surgery also took about 30 minutes. After the surgery ended and I went into the room, I was so dizzy and couldn’t open my eyes well. It was exactly that feeling when you press your eyes really hard and then let go, and everything is blurry and hard to see. I had been fasting for so long that I was hungry, so even though I was dizzy, I just sprang up, changed clothes, went out, and immediately bought a meal. That’s how not-overwhelming the surgery was, and my appearance on the day of surgery wasn’t so bad that I absolutely needed sunglasses. Phew.. Surgery review over The things I worried about: Answer to No. 1: Not intense at all. If anything, my eye shape became prettier. Answer to No. 2: It didn’t really make me have sanpaku eyes, but before surgery, when I wore large-diameter lenses, there was definitely a dog-eye kind of look, and after surgery that disappeared. Answer to No. 3: It was done in the fancy-yet-natural way (?) I wanted. Before the swelling went down, I wondered if it had been overcorrected too much.. but once the swelling went down and everything settled, it turned out just right. I guess the answer is simply to leave it to a doctor who has done this surgery a lot. I am super, super, super satisfied with the surgery, and the downtime was shorter than I expected too!
