First of all, I’m a case where I had double-jaw surgery for orthodontic correction. Before double-jaw surgery, I had pre-surgical orthodontic treatment for about 4 years, and when the orthodontic treatment was about 70% complete, following the professor’s recommendation that we proceed with double-jaw surgery, I had double-jaw surgery in early October last year. First, my lower teeth line protruded farther forward than my upper teeth line, and I kept telling people around me, “This surgery is not for cosmetic purposes. It’s for orthodontic correction,” acting like I had absolutely no interest in aesthetics, but honestly, on my own, I was really looking forward to the post-surgery result. And now that more than 3 months have passed, my satisfaction is about 4.6 out of 5. First, my face length, especially the midface, was reduced a lot. At the same time, my face became rounder, so I ended up looking very youthful. I’m also very fascinated and satisfied that my upper and lower teeth lines are aligned. As for swelling, 90% was gone by 2 months, and now that more than 100 days have passed, it feels like 97%? has gone down. I don’t feel swollen at all. Of course, until about 45 days after surgery, it’s extremely painful. But it’s a surgery worth enduring that, and I highly recommend it. Also, Seoul National University Hospital is about 5 million KRW more expensive than other university hospitals. I was a case covered by insurance, so I did it for about 12 million KRW including hospitalization and medication costs. ps. And just because you had double-jaw surgery doesn’t mean orthodontic treatment is over. Hellish post-surgical orthodontic treatment remains (at least twice as intense as pre-surgical orthodontics)
This is a surgery review pursuing reconstruction.
