Fresh One-Week Review of Dorsum and Nasal Tip Surgery! (Splint Removal, Stitches…

After <after surgery> Hello! I had nose surgery at a hospital in Jamsil last week, and now it’s just been one week! I wanted to correct my short nose and upturned nose, so after thinking about it for a long time, I visited several hospitals. In the end, I trusted the doctor, so I chose this hospital and made a reservation. For personal reasons, I booked a bit early. During the consultation, the consultant said things like, “We’ll keep in touch and keep adjusting toward the nose shape you want,” and “I’ll call you in advance,” but in the end, the only call I got was the day before surgery saying, “Your surgery is tomorrow~” lol. Still, the person who would be working on my nose was the doctor, not the consultant, so it was okay!

On the day of surgery, I went in, saw the doctor, did the design, and he went over the possible side effects after surgery and the direction I wanted one more time. I liked that he clearly told me what was possible and what wasn’t!

I had nasal tip and nasal bridge surgery using 2 mm silicone for the bridge, plus septal cartilage and ear cartilage, and the anesthesia was sedation! After about 2 hours, I woke up and the surgery was already over! In other reviews, they said even after you wake up, they tell you to recover a bit more before leaving, but here.. after I woke up, they sat me in the recovery room, then after a while woke me up again and told me to change clothes and come out if I could get myself together. That felt a bit off. I was out of it, cold, dizzy, and it felt like I had been drinking? I managed myself carefully, changed clothes, and came out. They explained things like postoperative precautions, but they spoke so fast that in my groggy state I couldn’t remember properly..; I looked at the precaution sheet they gave me at home and thought, “Oh, was that what they said?” Anyway, I went to the pharmacy, got my medication, and came home.

When I came out after surgery, there was almost no swelling. As night came, it slowly started swelling? My nose was packed, so it was so stuffy, and nosebleed kept flowing, so the whole night was really miserable ㅠㅠ It kept going down my throat.. That’s how I spent the day of surgery. The next day, they said it was an injection for swelling and antibiotics or something.. anyway, they told me to come in for an injection, so I went, got treatment, received swelling laser treatment, and went home! At that time, I asked if I could spit out the blood going down my throat, and they told me just to swallow it.. That was also when they told me to turn on a humidifier.. sigh.. Maybe I was the ignorant one.. It was also when my butt hurt so much from sleeping sitting up for two full days ㅠㅠ I kept drinking juice to reduce swelling, walking, and applying cold compresses. On day 3, I went to have the cotton removed from inside my nose, received swelling laser treatment, had the cotton removed, and got disinfected before coming home. Up to this point, the swelling was really severe, and my whole face was puffy, including my lips and forehead! There was no nosebleed at all though! Still, once the cotton was removed, the world looked different! I was so happy.. After that, aside from struggling because I couldn’t wash my hair, there wasn’t much that was hard. Maybe just having to stay home the whole time? lol From day 4, the swelling slowly moved down toward the lower part of my face, so I looked like I had a square face or a bulldog face lol. I kept doing warm compresses, drinking juice, and walking, and I could clearly see that it wasn’t swelling more anymore and was gradually going down!

On day 6, my lips were moving well and my dimples came back, so I thought the swelling had gone down a lot!

On the one-week mark, I went back to the hospital, had the nasal splint removed and the external stitches taken out! Since ear cartilage was used, my ear had also been packed, so they removed the cotton from my ear and disinfected it too! My ear was so itchy while it was healing, but I couldn’t scratch it, and it was miserable ㅠㅠ It felt so good once the cotton was removed. I had heard that after cartilage is removed, blood or fluid can collect in that area while it heals, but fortunately, they said my bleeding had been well controlled and it healed very cleanly ㅜㅜ They said the ear stitches and the stitches inside the nose would be removed after 2 weeks, so those were left for now! I was able to see the director’s face for the first time in a week! He checked whether the nose line looked okay and whether the wounds were healing well, and that’s how one week passed.

Around day 5 or 6, I had surgery because of an upturned nose, but it didn’t really seem like my nasal tip had come down, and it didn’t seem like there was much change, so I was really upset. But as the major swelling went down, I could see that it had somehow come way down! Today, after taking off the splint, the side profile line looks okay, but from the front it looks too much like Avatar, the nasal alae are too round, and it even seems like I’ve become hook-nosed, so I feel pretty uneasy. But they say the nose needs to settle after the swelling completely goes down, so for now I’m going to keep doing compresses and wait!

So far, I’m mostly satisfied with the surgical result! I think I did the right thing by trusting the doctor. I could see how meticulous he was ㅠㅠ Before surgery, when I asked him to take good care of me, he confidently reassured me, saying, “What doctor would want to do a bad job?”

However, maybe this hospital is well promoted, but there are so many people that even if you make a reservation, you basically have to wait at least 30 minutes.. Postoperative hospital service seems to be about swelling laser treatment, I guess! haha. It wasn’t cheap, and I paid around 2.5 million won, but from consultation until now, I haven’t really felt like, “I’m receiving great service~” haha. It just feels like the hospital is doing well because the directors are skilled.

Has anyone corrected an upturned nose and ended up looking more hook-nosed instead!? Will it go back up a little over time..? Is it just that the nasal alae are still too round, making it look droopy.. Anyway!! I’ll wait for it to settle more over time and come back to write again!

Everyone, I hope you succeed with the right doctor and the right hospital for you!!!
