I had always had a complex about my long, large chin. I am a man, so I lived thinking, well, that is how it is, but it kept bothering me. Fine, let’s shave it down before I get older! I decided that and looked into hospitals. I visited 5 hospitals I found by searching through acquaintances, YouTube, several famous communities, and so on, and had consultations, then chose Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Dental Clinic. The reason I chose this place was the director’s experience and the consultation that felt the most trustworthy. Most hospitals are kind, clean, and tell you about good results. Among them, Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery was the place that looked at my appearance most carefully and explained the recovery process and results after surgery most honestly and realistically. I felt trust because it is both an oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic and a dental clinic, and the director’s experience and expertise also helped a lot in building confidence. After deciding on the surgery, I visited again and completed several tests, then fasted the day before surgery and waited for the day. My surgery was facial contouring surgery for the square jaw and front chin, with discharge after one night of hospitalization. On the day of surgery, I visited, had another consultation, and went straight into surgery. I heard the postoperative precautions while going under anesthesia, and the surgery took about an hour and a half. It felt like an instant. Right after I opened my eyes, there was gauze in my nose, a drain in my mouth, my face was tightly wrapped, and I had to breathe deeply only through my mouth. The pain was not severe, but it was quite a difficult time. I could not go straight to sleep, and because I had to keep inhaling and exhaling diligently at regular intervals, my throat felt quite scratchy. The night came as they repeatedly checked my blood pressure hourly, administered painkillers periodically, and changed cold compress packs, and I was finally able to drink water after fasting. (A sauce bottle sold at Daiso is very helpful for drinking water. Since it is hard to open your mouth freely, a sauce bottle is more convenient than a cup. I did not bring one, and realized it after discharge.) Since I could not lie down, I sat perched on the bed. (There is also a donut cushion in the hospital, so be sure to use it.) Since my throat should not swell, I drank water often, diligently inhaled and exhaled, and spent the remaining time staring intently at overseas stocks through the night. I felt reassured because they took careful care of me even at night. After 8 a.m., the nasal hose, drain, and gauze were removed, and I had a consultation with the director about the surgical progress. He said it went very well, so we should watch the recovery process. I was relieved and happily discharged haha On the first day after surgery, the swelling was not severe yet. Because it was hard to open my mouth and chew, I ate soft foods like porridge and steamed egg, and gargled regularly with prescribed Hexamedine as a substitute for brushing my teeth. (About once an hour for disinfection.) It did not hurt much or interfere greatly with daily life. On the second day, I was told walking and strolling, except for strenuous exercise, help a lot with reducing swelling, so I went outside as soon as I opened my eyes. I walked around all day. By evening, the swelling started to come up. On the third day, the area around my jaw swelled quite a bit. Because of the tight feeling, speaking was a little difficult. As time passed, it swelled more and more. Even a simple bruise can cause swelling, and since bone was shaved, it must be a natural symptom. I continued regular cold compresses and Hexamedine gargles. On the fourth day, bruising appeared around my mouth. It is a symptom that lasts about 1 to 2 weeks, and I applied plenty of sunscreen to prevent pigmentation. The swelling was still quite full, and from this point I switched to warm compresses. After a week passed like that, the facial swelling slowly went down. From then on, the swelling started to decrease little by little each day. (They say it differs by person. I went back to work right away, so I think it went down a bit faster.) After surgery, I had my first follow-up visit and received treatment. They said my condition was good and changes would gradually become visible! At the one-week point, I carefully started brushing my teeth and continued regular warm compresses and Hexamedine gargles. Entering the second week, the bruising disappeared and the swelling went down a lot. I was surprised because I saw more change than expected, and after my visit, the director also reacted with surprise haha It is not some celebrity-level change, but it was fascinating to see a change in my impression. The stitches inside my mouth were removed, and many food restrictions disappeared. Now I can eat basic meals, except for irritating foods and tough foods! I have to keep doing mouth exercises, and I continue warm compresses whenever I have time. After that, people around me often said the surgery turned out so well, that I looked slimmer, and that it looked like I lost weight. I am happy because the complex that always bothered me is gone^^ They say the remaining swelling has not completely gone down yet, so I need to wait about 3 more months. I am happy haha I hope this post can be even a little helpful to those who have something in common with the surgery I received or are about to have a similar surgery. If you had surgery after a careful decision, after about 2 to 3 days or a week, there should be no major difficulty. I think if you manage your willpower and mindset and live daily life positively, the result will reward you just as much. I think overcoming one’s complex through cosmetic surgery is a wise action.
