I'm just rambling about what happened over the two-plus weeks after getting my nose done. (*Of course it may differ from person to person, but this is my experience? )
Now that it has been about two weeks since surgery, I definitely feel like a person's image changes. Since the nasal tip has become more defined, my face overall looks slimmer too, and I like that it looks more polished. If it turns out well, the effect is big.
My nose is settling well at the moment. I don't have any side effects yet. But even so, if I could go back to the past, I would not have the surgery again. The reasons are: 1. Nose surgery is so painful and difficult 2. Psychological stress after nose surgery
I had a hump nose complex. Even though I knew rhinoplasty was risky through various online communities and reviews, I decided to have the surgery. So I looked into hospitals and even set a date.
But on the day of surgery, as soon as I was discharged, I felt like, oh no. I really felt that this was not something easy at all, and that I had judged too hastily.
For the first week after surgery, especially until day 4, it was very hard. I couldn't breathe, and my whole body felt completely drained. Part of it was because there had been a lot of bleeding during surgery, though... Also, having the cotton packed tightly inside my nose was extremely stressful. When cotton is packed that tightly into the nose, even swallowing water feels unpleasant, my ears feel blocked, and food doesn't go down well.
Still, fortunately, the hospital took attentive care of me, so I went there often for a week. Every time I went, they said, why are you having such a hard time, and that my face looked really unwell.
Every time I went to the hospital, they gave me an injection. Strangely, whenever I got an injection, I felt dizzy and almost fainted. They said it can happen if you are very tense or something, but maybe that medication didn't suit me; I always got severely dizzy after the injection, so I rested at the hospital before leaving. I don't know why it hurt so much every time I got the shot, maybe because they kept injecting around the same area every time I went, but the injections really hurt too.
(I'm usually on the insensitive side and I handle injections well. I had incisional double eyelid surgery, and it didn't hurt much, so I just took the bus home. It didn't hurt when the stitches were removed either. It was even a revision surgery, but it still didn't hurt haha)
And every time they disinfected my nose, I teared up a little... When they removed the nasal stitches, especially the stitches inside the nostrils, tears really streamed down. It truly feels like they are grabbing raw flesh and tearing it. Ha... When they removed the cotton from inside my nose, it felt like pulling a giant caterpillar out of my nose, I guess. It was just a continuous week of pain. It hurts, it's hard, and you can't sleep well either because of nasal congestion. Even after removing the nasal cotton, the inside of the nose fills up with secretions. In the end, not being able to breathe is the same.
Of course it must differ from person to person. My friends said their noses didn't hurt much. They said once the splint is removed it's okay, it's manageable, but... I was not okay.
As time passes, the difficult part gets better. Especially once breathing is resolved, food goes down well too. After two weeks, it is really getting better. It doesn't particularly hurt or anything. But I am psychologically stressed with worries like, is this swelling, will it become natural? I keep getting sensitive because of this nose. And because I stayed home for about two weeks due to swelling, I keep looking at my nose more, getting depressed, and feeling that way. I keep worrying about things that haven't even happened. What if it becomes crooked or goes wrong later? Then would I have to open my chest and take costal cartilage? What if inflammation develops? Things like that... I find it exhausting and hate that I keep thinking these things, but I do.
Now it has been 16 days, and I let my guard down while disinfecting my nose. I tried to pull out a booger and grabbed deep inside my nostril, but maybe I touched the wrong place because my nosebleed really burst out. It was running down, and my mentality shattered along with it. Red, hot blood was pouring out haha
Seriously; I'm worried my nose might get inflamed or something might have gone wrong, so I can't sleep again today.
