I really never thought I’d go from just searching for a long time to writing a review like this haha I had three types of facial contouring done on October 26, and somehow 13 days have already passed. I debated between fixation and non-fixation, then at the end narrowed down hospitals focusing on non-fixation. The reason was that I thought I could live without worrying about sagging only if the dissection between skin and bone could be minimized. In my book, I believe one major surgery is enough ㅠ
My criteria for choosing a hospital were 1. Absolutely filter out blacklisted places (Google searches, searching plastic surgery communities, etc.) 2. I assume there are definitely brokers in plastic surgery-related communities. So I don’t 100% trust hospitals mentioned a lot in one community, but to separate the good from the bad, first I thoroughly check the medical staff’s careers, surgical methods, and surgical reviews on the hospital website. 3. Visit the hospital for a consultation and check the detailed surgical method, the doctor’s character, and the hospital’s aftercare
The hospital I found through those three criteria was one with fluoroscopy-guided contouring. Actually, I had surgery scheduled for the morning of the 26th at another hospital. It was a non-fixation hospital, and the downside was that although the effect would be smaller, I chose it because I wouldn’t have to worry about cheek sagging. But they didn’t take CT scans before and after surgery. It seemed they judged surgical success only by before-and-after photos. Huh, is it enough if the outside looks fine? ㅠ From a patient’s perspective, of course you’d be curious about bone union, wouldn’t you? They had an attitude like, if you’re worried, then get it scanned, so even after booking the surgery I kept worrying ㅠ A primitive and luck-of-the-draw surgery relying only on the doctor’s intuition ㅠ
Fortunately, the day before my scheduled surgery, I found out about this hospital, and it was the surgical method I had pictured as ideal. Of course I only found it then ㅠ I became convinced that I could get both the surgical effect that is the advantage of fixation and the minimized sagging that is the advantage of non-fixation, so I decided to have a consultation first. So I canceled the surgery on the morning of the 26th for the time being, packed my things with the mindset that I didn’t know which hospital it would be but I would definitely get surgery, and went up to Seoul lol
During the consultation, I got a good feeling haha First, safety. Second, minimizing sagging. Third, I could expect an effect too. Also, the director and all the staff were kind, and even the hospital atmosphere was comfortable haha. If you’ve been to consultations, you know this doesn’t happen often ㅠ I thought that with the surgical method I wanted, and with this director, I could entrust my face to him. A hospital specializing in facial contouring. Since there is one director, I didn’t have to worry about ghost surgery, and an anesthesiologist is on site, etc. There was nothing to criticize haha
Since I had come up to Seoul thinking this was the last time and even packed my bags lol I booked that day and had surgery right away the next morning, Friday haha A 30-year-old weight has completely lifted, and now I feel comfortable like a child who has finished homework.
To roughly describe the surgical method (for details, refer to the hospital website haha) For the cheekbones, instruments are inserted through a minimal intraoral incision, and without dissecting the skin and bone, the surgical instrument enters through the empty space under the cheekbone (the instrument direction is from bottom to top for osteotomy), then a complete osteotomy or partial osteotomy is performed. Because I wanted to live without worrying about cheek sagging, I had pinless partial osteotomy at the 45-degree cheekbone area and non-fixation complete osteotomy at the lateral zygomatic arch. Usually the cause of cheek sagging is damage to the retaining ligaments, periosteum, etc. from dissecting the skin and bone in the 45-degree area, but since fluoroscopy-guided contouring doesn’t do this, I naturally think cheek sagging will be minimized.
For the square jaw, I thought there would be no difference from other hospitals because it is done with long-curve osteotomy... but wow haha Because surgical instruments are inserted through a minimal intraoral incision and surgery is performed while viewing fluoroscopic imaging, they avoid the inferior alveolar nerve? passing under the square jaw and accurately osteotomize the amount the patient wants. Instead of cutting out and taking out the osteotomized bone, they remove the osteotomized bone by suction. Since there is no excessive pulling from the surgical instruments, swelling and bruising are minimized, so recovery is fast hehe Also, since surgery is performed while viewing fluoroscopic imaging, there’s no worry about asymmetry or a secondary angle, and it’s not surgery done by the doctor’s intuition, so of course it feels reassuring haha
It was a surgery I had been too scared to do since my 20s, but thanks to confidence in the surgical method, the doctor’s character, postoperative aftercare, and the kind hospital staff, oddly enough I really wasn’t nervous on the day of surgery. Even thinking about it now, it’s so amazing haha
Swelling peaked on days 2-3, then went down little by little every day. After about a week, it was presentable haha I had no bruising at all on the left, but my right cheekbone and square jaw were larger than the left, so maybe because they shaved more to match symmetry, I had a little bruising around the right square jaw, and it’s gradually moving down toward the lower right neck... It’s not blackish or anything, it’s a yellow bruise.. If I give it plenty of time, I think it’ll disappear in about 2 weeks.
And after seeing side-effect reviews in this community, I had been really scared ㅠ But I have no surgical side effects at all haha Starting the day after surgery, I had a mild tingling sensation in my cheeks, like sensation was returning. The next day, I carefully brushed my teeth with a baby toothbrush. And even though I’m swollen now, I like my cheekbone and square jaw lines haha I used to have extra-large cheekbones and a square jaw, and deep nasolabial folds, but the swelling filled them in, so it seemed to have an effect like nasolabial filler haha) As I see the line revealed day by day as the swelling goes down, I even feel proud that it really was a choice I don’t regret haha (I’m not encouraging surgery. I thought about it for 30 years lol)
After surgery, every word from the director and the treatment-team staff was so comforting... It really helped me recover a lot. Because I’m from another region, I stayed in the inpatient room for about 7 days until the stitches under my chin were removed. The good thing about hospitalization was that they disinfected the intraoral incision area every day and gave me warm words.. I was really grateful ㅠ
After surgery, honestly I don’t come into this community much ㅠ The reason is that my desperation has been resolved, but also when I see posts about other people’s postoperative side effects, even when I’m fine, I feel like I start hurting along with them for no reason ㅠ Since recovery is faster when your mind is at ease . . . Lastly, those preparing for surgery should take my story only as reference, make an excellent choice, and have a safe and effective surgery^^
