I finished my nose, and now I need to get myself together and live my life

<Before the second revision surgery><After the third rhinoplasty>I don’t know how much I’ve spent on just my nose. When I think about all my time, money, and the psychological burden, the reality check hits so hard that I even thought about giving up on everything and just living with the face I was born with. But anyone here who has had even one plastic surgery go wrong will probably understand how I feel. Rather than living with that face, it feels better to either try again as many times as it takes, or remove everything completely and at least live with peace of mind.. lol I chose the former. The biggest reason I had revision rhinoplasty on my nose three times was because my hump was never corrected properly. At first, because I was scared of plastic surgery, I had it done somewhere that said they would finish it with a closed approach and just correct the hump. But maybe making it natural ended up working against me, because there was so little difference that I couldn’t tell what had changed between before and after. People around me were even asking if I had really spent money on it... Up to that point, I still didn’t blame myself. I just accepted that maybe I had been uninformed, and thought I could do more research and get a revision. So for my second surgery, I had the hump corrected again and had nasal tip cartilage suturing done too (I had alar base reduction during my first surgery), but that time it was just honestly a failure. The first surgery at least ended with just “no difference,” but the second one had a line, though the shape of the nasal bridge was not good. At first, I avoided reality and forced myself to think positively, but then I wondered why I was even doing this, and I felt so sick of this whole plastic surgery world. I hated looking in the mirror, and whether I wore makeup or dressed nicely, nothing felt right. Thinking this would really, really, really... be the last time, I researched my third rhinoplasty. There was a clinic I liked about 90%? and I had already put down a deposit, but I still had some time, so I thought I might as well go to this consultation one last time. I think that’s what led me to actually have surgery there. The biggest reason I ended up deciding was partly because they guaranteed the surgery when using autologous costal cartilage, which I first heard about at this clinic. I think any clinic can say things like they are good at surgery and that autologous costal cartilage scars are small, you know? But the only place that actually brought up first that they would give a 100% refund was this clinic. From my position as someone looking into revision surgery, I couldn’t help but feel that was a real advantage. That said, I didn’t want a flashy nose.... I didn’t want to use silicone (the doctor also said it would be fine because my nasal bridge is high), so I decided to have surgery without an implant and raise the nasal tip with autologous costal cartilage. And that problematic hump.. lol After taking a CT scan and the doctor even palpating it directly, he said the bone was thick, so it absolutely could not be fixed with correction alone and that osteotomy was necessary I got such a harsh reality check thinking, what if I had known this from my first surgery... After going round and round and round, it ended with osteotomy after all.... If I had known it would be like this, I feel like I should have just done osteotomy and used rib cartilage from the start.... Also, I think the doctor’s usual design style pursues a natural look, so that fit me better too. We designed my nose with a straight-to-slightly-curved line. It’s just about been a month now, and I think recovery is faster than I expected. What do you think?? Other than the beginning, I don’t think it really hurt much. They originally said they would provide swelling care and scar-tissue injections and everything, but I also got an IV for swelling, so maybe that made my recovery even faster. It was also my first time seeing an X-ray machine at a clinic, so that was interesting. It was like an interesting treasure trove.... Since mine was a revision, and because I was writing about the memories of being disgusted after going through my first and second surgeries, the post ended up getting long. But the conclusion is probably obvious: even if it’s your first surgery, I wrote this hoping you’ll have surgery at a clinic known for revision surgery and one that handles autologous costal cartilage well. In my case, I came back after several attempts, but now I’m trying to get myself together and live my life. Anyway.. thank you for reading this long post.
