I had surgery around 2017, and my vision at the time was -4.5 and -5.0. Before surgery, the doctor told me that because my pupil size was large, if I had the surgery, glare and halos would get a little worse. They also clearly warned me that although it wasn’t high myopia, it was moderate myopia, so my vision could drop again after surgery, which actually made me trust them and go ahead with it. Of course, they also said my cornea was about twice as thick as an average person’s, so LASEK would be possible twice, and that was another reason I did it (I overheard the consultation of the person before me, and they said that person’s cornea was actually too thin, so they couldn’t do it…) Now 7 years have passed since surgery and I’m in my 8th year, but I’m maintaining 1.5 in the left eye and 1.5 in the right eye. I haven’t really made any major effort to maintain it, but I tried to get rid of the habit of looking at my phone up close while lying down. The glare and halos definitely got worse. However, I had glare and halos originally, and it looks a little more spread out? It’s about that level, so at night when driving, it just feels dazzling. Honestly, because glare and halos had been there since birth, I only found out during the consultation that it differs from person to person (I thought everyone else was like that too…) Even with glare and halos, I drive on highways just fine and drive around the city just fine too. The postoperative pain really feels like putting grains of sand inside your eyes and continuously rubbing them for two days. Right after surgery ended, I thought, is it just a little stinging? so maybe I’m a case that doesn’t hurt much But once I got in the taxi, the anesthesia wore off. You should be prepared and must bring a guardian with you ^^ However, I remember that after exactly two days, it became more like dry eyes and was okay. As for other side effects, my vision improved and everything was good, but there was a phenomenon where it felt like my focus was a little off? It’s a bit hard to explain, but I think it lasted about three to four years? Now I don’t notice it, maybe because I’ve gotten used to it. If I went back to that time and was asked whether I would have the surgery, I think I would definitely do it. My face really didn’t suit glasses, and after taking them off, my life changed. Above all, even considering the drawbacks and side effects above, it is so convenient and good. However, from what I remember at the time, LASEK was 1.7 million won and the extra procedure? was about 800 thousand won, and I think I would think a bit more about the extra procedure. After surgery, they put one or two drops of green eye drops in, and I’m not sure how effective it was. (Of course, it may be thanks to that that I’ve maintained my vision well until now…)
