After my first buried-suture double eyelid surgery 10 years ago, my double eyelids recently kept coming undone, and it was hard to put on double eyelid tape every morning, so I decided to have surgery. Without much hesitation, I chose the hospital where my older sister had her surgery. I wanted to have the surgery during the Lunar New Year holiday and recover then, but maybe because it was such a famous hospital, they said surgery wasn’t possible on the day I wanted. I made a consultation appointment by phone and was counting down the days, but then the hospital called and said the date would probably need to be changed because of the director’s surgery schedule, so it got pushed back again,, On the day of the consultation, I checked in and waited. Maybe 30 minutes had passed when the front desk called me over and said I would have to wait another 3 hours because the director was in surgery. If that was going to happen, why did they change my appointment again in the first place.. I was upset with the front desk response, but I was able to meet the consultant right away, and thanks to her kind response, I booked the surgery and even scheduled my follow-up appointments!! On the day of surgery, after changing clothes, I was lying in the operating room, and the OR nurse patted me and told me not to be nervous. When the director said, “I’ll do the surgery well for you!” I felt really reassured and had the surgery. Starting the day after surgery, I went straight back to work, and it was honestly so hard that I wanted to quit The conjunctival edema and swelling were really severe, and because the pooled tears wouldn’t drain, I think every day was really difficult.. The symptoms gradually improved, and after the stitches were removed on day 5, I felt comfortable, though there was still a little foreign-body sensation. After all the stitches were removed on day 8, it became really comfortable. For now, after the surgery, I feel good because I think the surgery went well, and I’m really looking forward to how my eyes will look once the swelling is completely gone haha
