Places I visited for consultations - ㄹㅂㄹ - ㅇㄴㅅㅌ - ㅍㄹㅇㅂ The second hospital was recommending silicone, so I removed it from the candidate list.
At the consultation, I also showed photos of the nose design I wanted. It wasn’t a celebrity photo. I just searched hospital reviews and showed those. I searched on ㅂㅂㅌ and showed them right away that day. There are surprisingly a lot of people who hesitate about bringing photos, but bringing them is much better than not bringing any.
ㄹㅂㄹ Diagnosis: no implant + autologous costal cartilage for the tip Nose design: straight Consultation: if I didn’t want silicone, I didn’t have to use it. They said they usually recommend it if I wanted a clear before-and-after difference, but the person being consulted had an already high bridge, so it would be fine. There was a CT scan, and they said that with septum alone it would be hard to raise the tip higher than the bridge, so I should choose between autologous costal cartilage or donor rib cartilage. I didn’t care much about scars and such, so I said I’d do autologous costal cartilage. I didn’t want to use donor rib cartilage and then see the tip sag again for no reason later. I thought they were very meticulous about the design. I was worried the midface would look long, but they said it only looks long now because the tip is lower than the bridge; if the tip is raised, it would look much fresher and shorter. I asked whether osteotomy or correction was unnecessary because they said my bridge was on the higher side, and they said firmly that it wasn’t needed. The hospital itself had a lot of people there (which is why it was hard to get a consultation appointment), so I did have to wait a bit, but the doctor explained things in detail, so I just lost the annoyed feeling.
ㅍㄹㅇㅂ Diagnosis: no implant + autologous costal cartilage for the tip + hump correction Nose design: straight Consultation: they said a straight line could still come out attractive even without silicone. But here they said hump correction was needed. From the outside it didn’t seem very noticeable, but since they weren’t using silicone and there was a possibility of a step when the tip was raised, they said it would be better to include a little correction. In the earlier consultation with the manager, they said to feel free to choose between donor rib cartilage and autologous costal cartilage, and the doctor recommended autologous costal cartilage. The osteotomy was not just casually recommended; they also palpated and looked at the CT before saying so. The doctor designed the nose shape, but the overall explanation of the nose materials and the surgery itself was all given by the manager.
ㅇㄴㅅㅌ They also said rib cartilage would be needed here. As mentioned above, I was told silicone was necessary, so I removed them from the candidate list.
------ At this point, I gave up on the idea of getting surgery with just ear cartilage and septum alone. There may be no single correct answer in surgery, but after going to several places it feels even more confusing.
