You can probably find the hospital information and the director if you look at the posts I wrote before. It’s still too early for me to say, “I definitely recommend this hospital!!!” right...? A lot of people are asking me about the hospital by message too.
*For reference, I had the surgery at a young age. I thought it would be better to do it even one day younger, when my recovery ability is good and when I have enough time, so I did it right after the college entrance exam.
> Consultation
I went to exactly two places for consultations. If you read my consultation reviews, you’ll know, but among them, I requested a second consultation at only one place, got tests done, and scheduled the surgery date. I live outside Seoul, and I was a student, so going back and forth to Seoul was inconvenient, which is why I only went to two places. But if you live close by and have enough time, I hope you visit many clinics in person. I did spend a long time researching online and really looked into a lot.
> The Day Before Surgery
I was almost like Jekyll and Hyde. “I’m not nervous???” and then “I’m freaking shakingㅠㅠㅠ”... Those two selves coexisted. After that, I ended up only sleeping a few hours before going into the operating room... I said I’d eat everything I wanted the day before surgery, but when it came down to it, lol, I felt like I’d get indigestion if I ate, so I couldn’t eat much.
> Day of Surgery
Did I sleep about one or two hours...? But because of the nerves, my mind was wide awake. After that, I got two buttock injections, a sedative and an antibiotic, got connected to an IV, and walked into the operating room. The anesthesiology director was also present. I remember going into the operating room and talking with the nurses and the anesthesiology director about my major, and then my memory cuts off. I also remember getting into the wheelchair after the surgery ended. I heard later during dressing that not many people remember going onto the operating table and lying down there lol. People who are strong with medication? People who can hold their alcohol well apparently remember almost everything. And on this day, the only aftereffect from general anesthesia was that my throat felt scratchy, like having a cold, and there was nothing else. Only my face hurt... a lot... seriously... it hurt so much...ㅠ I’m usually pretty good at tolerating pain... but right after surgery was the most painful, and at dawn it was throbbing so much that I couldn’t sleep at all, so I got painkillers. I also loosened the compression band.
> Day 2
There wasn’t much different from Day 1. If anything, I was a bit more swollen...? The pain felt like it had eased a little...? But a new obstacle appeared: the inside of my mouth swelled so much that it was hard to take medicine. Even gargling was so hard. The smell and taste were disgusting. I think the expression “disgusting” might have been created after tasting that gargle.
> Day 3
I swelled so much that I wondered if a human face could swell this much. Even my family dog and parrot don’t recognize me... The first thing I felt when I woke up was that my face was heavy... I was supposed to go for a walk todayㅠ but my mom strongly stopped me, saying it was too cold. I also had signs of a cold, so I didn’t go out, but I’m definitely going to go out tomorrow... And eating has become difficult. Maybe because I originally don’t like porridge, I’m already sick of it. Being sick of it, plus having to gargle, is just unbearable. Ugh, I have to gargle even now, and I’m losing it. Is there any tip to make the taste of the gargle unnoticeable? It’s so disgusting that the nausea I didn’t even get as an aftereffect of general anesthesia is coming now. Just thinking about it makes me feel like throwing up. And up to Day 3, I’ve continued to cough up bloody phlegm.
Day 1-Day 3
Pain level: 7 out of 10 (especially on Day 1...) Discomfort level: 8 out of 10 (the discomfort level increases day by day)
But maybe because it was the surgery I wanted so badly, I didn’t feel regret. Maybe I was too out of it to feel that, but I’m just worried about sagging cheeks. Also nerve damage and nonunion... I feel like I have more worries than before surgery.
Tomorrow I’m going to try soft tofu and cake. The gargle, please... just... ah...ㅠ
I’m still rambling,,, I’ll try to post the next review after getting the stitches removed~
