I had surgery on March 21, and today is the second day.
I have very little facial fat, and my lateral cheekbones and 45-degree cheekbones protruded severely, so I often heard that I looked masculine. I had a severe complex about it, but I had to work and I was scared, so I kept just looking up facial contouring reviews here and there. This time, after quitting my job, I had some free time, and coincidentally the hospital I had been keeping an eye on was holding an event, so I ended up doing it.
Day of surgery - I disinfected inside my mouth, washed my face briefly, went to the hospital room, changed clothes, and they told me to wait. I was so scared that I thought several times, should I cancel and just leave? Around the time I was somewhat mentally prepared, they took me to the operating table. They laid me down, wrapped me so I couldn’t move my body, put an IV in my arm, and while I was waiting around again, the anesthesiology director came and asked if I had fasted. When I said I had, they praised me and said I did well, put something like a breathing mask in front of my nose, said “Anesthesia is starting~,” and after that I didn’t hear anything, so I think I was anesthetized~ Someone called me and said I needed to open my eyes, so when I opened them, I was in a wheelchair, and I got up and lay down on the bed. From then on, the pain started. Cheekbones aside, my square jaw, chin, and the entire area around my neck were swollen, so it hurt even if something brushed against it, breathing was so hard, my throat stung, and phlegm kept building up, and when I spat it out, bloody phlegm came out. Honestly, more than the sore throat from anesthesia, my jaw and cheekbone pain was extremely severe. When I looked online, it clearly said bone has no nerves so it doesn’t hurt... I really wanted to die, regretted it, and cried because I felt like I shouldn’t have done it. I spent the whole night in pain, unable to sleep properly, groaning and spitting out bloody phlegm.
First day after surgery - My face was more swollen than the day of surgery, and the pain was the same. I couldn’t stand it, so I asked them to give me a pain-control injection, but it had no effect. It was really painful, and every time I looked at my face I kept crying.... They said I had to come in again the next day to receive antibiotics, so since I live in the provinces, I booked a motel room for one day. I felt like I was dying from the pain and swelling, so I took Tylenol on an empty stomach. After a few minutes, the pain decreased, and the swelling kept increasing. Bruising appeared around my eyes, blood vessels had burst inside my eyes, and my lips wouldn’t close, so saliva leaked and everything I drank spilled out. I had absolutely no appetite, but I had to take medicine, so I drank only half of the pumpkin juice the hospital gave me, took the medicine, and did cold compresses by inserting them together with the compression bandage on my face, changing them whenever they got warm. This day was also a difficult day.
Second day (today) - I kept waking up every hour to change the cold compress, and maybe because of the Tylenol, or because I kept alternating cold compresses, the pain is almost gone now!! Even just not having pain makes me feel like I can live! I drank pumpkin juice again, took medicine, separately took antibiotic pills again, rinsed my mouth, and visited the hospital. There were a lot of people today, so I waited a bit. Today they squeezed out pooled blood around the intraoral stitches and said I hadn’t rinsed well, so I said my lips were too swollen and the mouthwash wouldn’t go inside. They told me to rinse while swishing it around. When they first taught me how to gargle, they clearly told me to do it only by moving my face left and right... Anyway, that happened, and they told me I have severe swelling~ They did swelling laser treatment, gave me a swelling injection and antibiotics, and told me to come again tomorrow, but at that time I have to go back to the provinces, so I received antibiotics and decided to come in on day 10.
It has only been 2–3 days since surgery, so maybe that’s why the swelling is really intense. My eyes open only enough to show my pupils, my double eyelids are completely gone, and the inside of my mouth is extremely swollen. Every time I swallow saliva, I put a little strength in my throat, and each time, there is a crackling sound on the left cheekbone side... Also, compared with the right side, the left cheekbone area is sunken in like cheek hollowing. When I asked the doctor, they said the swelling is severe and it may also be because of the compression tape? that tape attached from the cheekbone area down to the jaw, and that it would be okay with time...
