I had 3 facial contouring procedures on February 7, 2019 (Hi-L zygoma, chin setback, long-curve square jaw). I came up from the provinces by KTX without a guardian, had surgery alone, and took the train home the next day
Swelling) When I had double eyelid surgery before, my swelling went down quickly too, so I wasn’t worried. It was worst on day 3 after surgery, and now the residual swelling is going down. I didn’t know about swelling-reducing medicines like L-DES A or Sindis, so I couldn’t take them. Instead, I drink one pouch of pumpkin juice with every meal. Until day 7, I barely went for walks because I was too lazy. Even after that, I didn’t feel like walking for a long time made the swelling go down better the next day. When sleeping, I always slept sitting up at 45 degrees, but from week 2, I just sleep with a higher pillow I’m taking photos of the degree of swelling every day
Pain) On the day of surgery, the square jaw area and front chin throbbed, so I got painkillers every four hours without fail. From day 3, it didn’t hurt at all, and after coming home, I took one extra painkiller whenever it hurt. From day 4 after surgery, there was no pain, but my overall condition was so bad that it was hard because of that. It wasn’t that a specific place hurt, but my body felt heavy and droopy, uncomfortable, and feverish? More than facial pain, my throat from the airway intubation hurt so, so, so, so much that it was hard. The throat pain lasted exactly two weeks!
Stitches) I had the zygoma stitches removed on day 7 and the intraoral stitches removed in week 2. From day 5, I got an ultra-fine baby toothbrush and just brushed my teeth because it felt so stuffy ㅠㅠ Thanks to that, I was praised for taking good care of the intraoral stitches. I heard the better you eat and rinse your mouth, the more the intraoral stitches soften and come out easily, so I set times at 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 o’clock and rinsed 10 times each session It probably varies greatly by person, but the zygoma stitches didn’t hurt at all, and the intraoral stitches hurt enough to sting. If rating the pain from 0 to 10, maybe about 1 or 2?
Diet) Because the stitches hurt too, I really ate things like thin rice gruel until day 3, and from day 4 I ate porridge with solids and soup (I was scared to chew, so I just swallowed). On day 6, I could cut jajangmyeon into very tiny pieces and eat about one handful. My mouth wouldn’t open well, so I ate with a pink Baskin-Robbins spoon. From day 8, I ate everything except chewy, hard, and crispy things. As for chewiness, even boiled pork was possible without pain
Mouth opening) I had heard so much that after facial contouring the mouth doesn’t open well, so I measured it before surgery to compare, and I could fit three fingers vertically. From week 2 until now, it opens about two fingers wide The hospital says my mouth will gradually open more, but somehow I have a feeling this is as far as it will go! I’m worried about possible dental treatment in the future
Sensation) Everything feels normal except for dulled sensation in about a 100-won-coin-sized area under my left eye and under my left nose. But the four lower front teeth get a tingling sensation when I pull my chin inward, and even when I’m still, the sensation is a bit dull and tight. There is no sensitivity to cold My lower teeth are my biggest concern ㅠㅠㅠ
Facial expressions and pronunciation) My pronunciation does not leak. When swelling was severe, people around me said my expression looked like I was making an “O” face. But when pronouncing “eh-,” my lower teeth feel slightly tighter My expression is normal when expressionless, but when pronouncing “i, jeu, cheu,” my lower lip and mentalis muscle pull to the left. The hospital says it will come back, and it’s not greatly uncomfortable (If anyone who had surgery had the same symptom as me and recovered normally, please leave a comment)
Satisfaction) My chin was long and I had a protruding lower jaw, so I had chin setback, and this part was definitely corrected, so I’m completely satisfied!! The square jaw has also decreased a lot, but when viewed from the front I wanted it to look a bit slimmer, and it isn’t quite to that extent, so that’s a little disappointing. The zygoma also went in, but it’s so-so~ Now I’m more worried about sensory side effects than aesthetics. I hope my lower teeth return to normal quickly! If I were to rate it, about 4 out of 5? The director and consultant are very kind. The hospital is also very large and felt very professional
If anyone has similar symptoms with the lower teeth or lips, or had them and improved, please leave a comment!ㅠ
