I had surgery on December 31, the last day of the year.
My original nose had an L-shaped silicone implant, and my bulbous nose hadn't been corrected either,
so after thinking about it for years, I ended up having revision surgery ㅜㅜ after 8 years..
They said they would just leave the silicone bridge augmentation as it was,
and since my septum was still intact, they told me to choose between septal cartilage and costal cartilage..
But costal cartilage leaves a scar, so I worried about it a lot.
When I looked into septal cartilage, I found that the septum originally supports the nose, and if you touch the septum, later when the silicone is removed, the nose can never go back to its own original state (because the support collapses..). Septal perforation (a hole in the septum) can also happen..
There is also a high chance the nose will become crooked. In my opinion, everyone around me who had their septum touched ended up with a crooked nose, and they got rhinitis too..
I realized the septum absolutely shouldn't be touched.
So I chose costal cartilage ㅜ Other hospitals mentioned donated rib cartilage, but the idea of putting cadaver cartilage into my nose itself was scary, and since I would have no idea whether it came from an 80-year-old grandfather or who, the chance of absorption seemed super high, and the chance of inflammation too..
I had my own costal cartilage harvested at a different hospital, not a donated-rib hospital.
As I write this, it's getting so long that I think it might be boring to read,
but for my first surgery, I went in for a consultation and ended up doing it that same day (which is why it got ruined... lol). As a result.. I regretted it so much that for this surgery, I really thought and thought about it for years, then finally found the exact hospital I wanted and booked it a month and a half in advance.
Even during that month and a half, I thought about it so, so hard before having this revision surgery.. I think there are probably so many people like me. Honestly, even now it hurts so much that I wonder if I did it for nothing,
but even with the bandage on, somehow it feels like the nose I wanted came out.. so I think I did the right thing!!♡ They say revision surgery doesn't hurt, but my first surgery was too simple... I literally only had silicone put in lol
Now they took both ear cartilage and costal cartilage, so it doesn't hurt when I sit, but when I lie down my ribs hurt ㅜ ㅜ During my first surgery, my ear hurt so much that I didn't know my nose hurt, but now my nose hurts so much..
I think I'll have to sleep sitting up..
I'm still all wrapped up tightly like this, so I don't know if it turned out well,
but my boyfriend says it turned out really well!! I hope it's pretty.
Since today is the first day, I'm only uploading this photo,
but I'll take and upload photos when they change the bandage below too!
