I had the surgery in my second year of university (2016). It wasn't a surgery I chose on my own; it was something I did because my mom wanted me to. I had the textbook East Asian eyes: no double eyelids, lots of fat in the eyelids, and a severe epicanthic fold. I visited many plastic surgery clinics back then, but since my mom had been the one researching and visiting places, I can't remember the names of the clinics I consulted. Of all the places I went to, this doctor felt the most trustworthy. First of all, they were a place that pursued a natural look, and I went there because I was referred after hearing that a friend's daughter had surgery there. Since there was only one surgeon who both operated and served as the primary doctor, it felt trustworthy. It seemed like a place where substitute surgery probably wouldn't be possible? That kind of feeling. The downside was that the consultation coordinator pushed for a deposit and seemed to size people up? Looking back, maybe they looked down on people in some way. I don't know if they're still there, but back then the doctor himself had a kind of ease and trustworthiness that you could feel as a person.
