Surgery review from about 2-3 years ago
1. Consultation I had already gone around to several clinics, so I had a rough idea of what kind of eyes I wanted and what kind of surgery was needed. Most clinics mentioned eye correction, front canthoplasty, or upper canthoplasty, and it was the same here. They took photos with a headband on while rotating my eyes this way and that, then discussed things while looking at the photos. The director seemed to prefer a natural line, which was similar to my own thoughts, so they immediately set a line that I liked.
2. Surgery I don’t remember much because I had sedation anesthesia on the day of surgery. I changed clothes in the dressing room, went into the operating room, lay down, had my hands and feet fixed, and then the sedation began. I remember saying it was too cold at one point and a nurse covering me with a blanket, and then I woke up when they were tying the right eye. When I was lying in the recovery room for a bit, they put an ice pack on me, gave me the precautions, and I went home. A few days later I went back and had the front canthoplasty stitches removed. It stung a little, but it didn’t hurt as much as I had heard. They gave me ointment and I really applied it diligently.
3. Swelling management I followed the swelling management instructions exactly and did even more if I could. I had heard a rumor? that the first 3 days are what matter most for swelling, so I slept sitting up for those 3 days. I kept doing eye exercises, got two ice packs and alternated them constantly, and went for evening walks. Part of it was also that I didn’t make the line too dramatic, but I managed it carefully so I didn’t swell much and the swelling went down quickly in a week.
4. Current condition The double eyelid has loosened, so I’m planning a revision. It’s more annoying than anything that it came apart earlier than expected, but I also had a pretty strong natural inner double eyelid line and made the surgical line thin, so maybe the overlap caused it. Also, the day before it loosened, something very upsetting happened at work so I cried a lot and kept rubbing my eyes... Anyway, my satisfaction after the double-eyelid surgery was 100. There was no scar from the front canthoplasty, and it looked so natural that people wouldn’t know unless I told them. It was natural enough to surprise people when I did tell them
