Around July 2022, I only had philtrum reduction surgery. The consultation manager was extremely kind, and when I went for the consultation, she said it didn’t really look like I needed a philtrum reduction, and if I was going to do something, I should rather get a philtrum dimple procedure? done. But I had already decided to get a philtrum reduction before going, so I said I was definitely going to do the reduction. When I consulted with the director, he said let’s reduce it by just 1 cm. I said okay, and they said same-day surgery was possible, so I went ahead with it. But the director’s consultation was super careless. I think it was cut off at 5 minutes. I had local anesthesia, but I don’t recommend it.. Definitely do sedation. Hearing the cutting sound was scary. After surgery, there was almost no swelling, and only the philtrum was shortened, but from day 2 the swelling was huge. I became Donald Duck. First of all, since I couldn’t open my mouth wide, I couldn’t eat properly for several days + if you get the surgery, you can think of it as needing to wear a mask for at least a month. At that time, after 1-2 weeks, the scar didn’t seem noticeable and the swelling seemed almost gone, so I took off my mask and met people, but looking at selfies from back then now, it looks so unnatural….. Also, in the early period after surgery, it felt like my philtrum wasn’t my own philtrum? and when stretching the philtrum, smiling, or making facial expressions, it was extremely unnatural. I couldn’t really smile well either << these things do gradually get better, but still, for it to become somewhat natural takes at least more than 6 months. For swelling, you really need to look at it over 1 year. It changes slowly and gradually into something natural. Ah, the scar really isn’t visible unless you look very closely. But this is case by case, so it likely differs from person to person. In conclusion, as for the surgery satisfaction people may be most curious about, as of now I’m very satisfied and feel it was worth the money. But the recovery period takes truly longer than any other surgery, and unless you have a considerable complex about your philtrum, I think it’s better not to walk this rough path for no reason. If your thought is, “These days a short philtrum looks pretty, should I try it too?” I absolutely don’t recommend it. I recommend it only for people who, when looking at their own face really objectively, feel their philtrum is truly long, that only the philtrum is visible, and that they can’t live with this philtrum. Before getting philtrum reduction, I searched for a lot of reviews, but it was hard to find genuine reviews, so I’m leaving this to help those considering philtrum reduction. Even though it has been about 1 year and 3 months since my surgery, I still feel a slight uncomfortable foreign-body sensation when moving the philtrum area? Of course, it absolutely does not affect daily life. Lastly, I know this isn’t something someone who had surgery should say, but.. the inner self is much more important than the face. I recommend cultivating your inner self.
