I had surgery here and had it removed at another hospital. It didn’t cause a functional problem, but in the end it wasn’t the design I wanted. In the pre-op consultation, they said, “Until about one month later, it may look more blunt than what you want, but don’t worry because the swelling will go down over time.” But from before the stitches were even removed, it was already becoming slimmer than I wanted and looked slightly pinched. They explained things in a very abbreviated way. Even in the consultation right before surgery, they just said, “We’ll do it with this kind of feeling,” and they didn’t mention what manipulations would be done, whether cartilage would be added, or how many mm they would raise it.
It seemed like this place did surgery by tying the cartilage and, for each patient, cutting the alar cartilage and adding it on top, but I only understood it as tying the cartilage, and I didn’t know whether the alar cartilage grafting also applied to me. Because the result was different from what I wanted, I asked for AS or removal, but they said they would only know after a month and that because it was just dissatisfaction with the shape, AS would not be done later. In the end I went to another hospital and had removal surgery (removal of the tied cartilage and cartilage repositioning). I had some time before the removal surgery, and during that time the swelling kept going down, so my nose looked more and more pinched day by day.... I decided to have it removed at another hospital and wanted to properly hear what had been done, so I asked:
'So you only tied the cartilage?' - Yes, we tied the cartilage. 'Other places add the alar cartilage to raise it; did I have that too?' - Your cartilage was a bit developed too... 'You didn’t cut the cartilage or anything, right?' - The cartilage... we did slightly resect the thicker part. (I felt they were speaking a bit unclearly here... they said they only tied the cartilage, but every time I asked, the surgery got described as having more and more steps?) I wanted to believe I had misunderstood, but after removal surgery at another hospital, I was told that some cartilage had actually been grafted onto my nose. I had surgery thinking they were only tying the cartilage, but there was also alar cartilage resection and grafting onto the nasal tip... so my nose shape had no choice but to change drastically.
I’m stating clearly that this is not a post slandering or insulting the hospital. I’m just writing this review to tell you to ask about every single step in detail when you get a consultation.. The staff are kind people. It’s just that the surgical result didn’t suit me...
