I got double eyelid surgery at DoctorSmi 10 years ago.
It wasn’t as busy as it is now, but even back then it was the biggest hospital in Daejeon, and this was when it was in the building in front of Galleria. Even though I had booked a consultation, there were so many people and it was so crowded that I had to wait about an hour before I could see the doctor. It was packed almost like the subway during rush hour on the way home from work.. There wasn’t even enough seating in such a big hospital, so I was surprised.
After waiting a long time, the consultation seemed to take less than 5 minutes, so it felt a bit empty. There wasn’t really much explanation, just a quick look at the line and, “We can do the buried-suture method,” and that was it.. It wasn’t especially rude, but it wasn’t especially kind either... They just seemed really busy. No other place had recommended an epicanthoplasty, but only here did they recommend one, so I got it done. (I really regret it^^..) And when I consulted with the manager, the price was on the high side compared to other places.
The surgery was scheduled late, at 7 p.m... It was such a late time that it felt a bit off. I had double eyelid surgery with epicanthoplasty + buried-suture method. Both the epicanthoplasty and the buried sutures turned out uneven, so now I’m looking into revision surgery for the epicanthoplasty and the double eyelids. At least because it was buried sutures, it wasn’t a complete disaster, but the asymmetry is so annoying…… I really wish I hadn’t done the epicanthoplasty Other hospitals said I didn’t need it, but I insisted, and now too much of my inner eye corner is exposed. But even the exposure is asymmetrical... My intercanthal distance was originally a nice 3.5, and I didn’t have narrow-set eyes at all, but after doing it unnecessarily my eyes look extremely close together now. And dry eyes are an added bonus At least for buried sutures, even though 10 years have passed, they still haven’t come undone.
The post-op care was also not great. They didn’t do anything special, and on the day they were supposed to remove the stitches, I couldn’t even see the director because they were busy. Even for the one-month follow-up I had to wait an hour just to be seen, and I think I only saw the director for about 2 minutes?? They said they were busy… I mentioned the asymmetry, but they didn’t really say much, just said it turned out well and seemed like they wanted to finish quickly.
I keep wondering why everyone else says their double eyelid surgery turned out well, but mine ended up like this. If I could turn back time, I wouldn’t have had the surgery.
